So, I was working up in Newington, CT thursday and after work decided to swing over to M&J on the Berlin Turnpike (used to M&J in Wallingford but moved to this location last fall). It was late in the day (around 6) and as I come in I get greeted like family along with the “You just missed out!” tag line.
The owner, John, and his brother, Tim, got bored, as you know, it gets slow sometimes at the store. So there was this partial box of 16-17 Showcase in the ‘open box for sale’ display case that has been there since August. Since I am one of their main hockey collectors they know that if I want it, I’ll buy it. Well this box had about 2 packs out of it and I like buying complete boxes with a better chance of getting patches out of Showcase, liking the previous year’s offerings better. (This didn’t stop me from buying about 5 boxes of the stuff=Vesey patch was in box 3.) Anyhow, they cracked the rest of the opened box. It was hot!! 4 autos, 2 Ex’s, 1 Auston.
Yep! The never leave the last pack was expanded to never leave the opened box sitting...and I was thinking about that box the previous weekend, too.

Dvorak prospects auto
Ek prospects auto
Another prospects auto (lesser rc, can’t remember the name)
And.......
Nylander Red Glow /25 prospects auto!!!
They were super psyched! I am feeling non-buyer’s remorse but happy for them.
From a box that I wasn’t expecting much, it sure gave a lot. This was the second hot box from that shop as I pulled one with the patch.
Always good to share some great breaks at the LCS.
