After looking for this card nearly 3 years, I've finally come across a numbered copy of this card. I've been outbid on auctions, I've had auctions end early on me (wink wink BBB) and general bad luck when trying to pick up this card.

I ended up paying a little more than BV, but to me it's totally worth it for a card that in my mind is grossly undervalued. and now....

01/02 UD SPA Mike Modano Buyback #/75

I really enjoy the guy in the background waiving his fist. GOLDEN!

Very cool card!! It looks great especially in the North Stars Uniforms.

However, not to sure I understand why these cards are so hard to come by and go for book or more each time. They're 75 of them...you'd think that's a high number. Care to explain the card for us who know nothing about it :)

If I were to own a Mike Modano autographed card, I'd wanna own that one. Congrats on the awesome pickup! :)

Very good acquisition. Congrats!

I have a Modano question. I'm not really a major follower of career player stats, but I knew Modano scored his 500th goal the other day. Isn't he also close to being the top point-getter for US-born players?

here's a little info on Modano. I pulled this from his wikipedia article

"Modano scored his 500th career regular-season goal on March 13, 2007 with 10:24 left in the 3rd period in a regulation win against Antero Niittymaki of the Philadelphia Flyers with assists by Antti Miettinen and Jon Klemm. He now trails Joe Mullen's all-time record of 502 goals by an American-born player and 19 points behind Phil Housley's all-time record of 1232 points scored by an American-born player. He is only the 14th goal scorer to score 500 goals with a single team and the 39th player to reach 500 goals overall."

I think it might have something to do with this being his rookie card autographed. Plus the fact that a print run of 75 cards 5 years ago was quite a short print run. I don't remember the stated odds on pulling buybacks in 01/02 SPA, but I'm thinking it was a pretty tough pull. Also, to me, the best photography on cards is goal celebrations.
