Hey all,

I'll be in Montreal for this upcoming weekend. I understand there is a card show there.

Thats about the extent of what I know. Can anyone fill in the details?

Dates, times, location? Also if any dealers on here are going I'd love to drop by for a chat.

Thanks ,
Andrew

The Montreal International Collector's show is this weekend. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Pierre Charbonneau Center (3000 Viau in the east end - near the Olympic Stadium). Advertised 100 exhibitors. Based on the last show (Oct 2008) it won't be just cards, but also toys, memorabillia, jerseys, books, DVDs etc. There will drawings for prizes.

Scheduled autograph signers for the shows will be:
Saturday: Steve Shutt and Stephane Richer
Sunday: Albert Langlois, Jean Guy Talbot, Francis Bouillon adnd Maxim Lapierre

Admission is $9 and probably $5 for the kids.
Parking is available on-site but is not free.

I'll probably be there on Sunday with me nephews.

I really need to go to this one of these days, too bad its a pain in the @ss to travel all the way from where I live (if only I drove) maybe I'll get there one of these years. Either way have a good time Andrew and enjoy the game and the card show.

Parking has always been free when I've been. Is this something new?

No, they have the automated parking machines there. You pay at the box and leave the ticket on the dash.

I know that you have to pay because at last spring's show, the machines weren't working at opening time, but around 11:00, they made an announcement over the PA that the machines had been fixed and that those who hadn't paid yet, should go outside and pay.

I guess you got lucky.

Also, I remember seeing some cars with special parking permits on the dash. I assumed that they belonged to the dealeers and that parking was included in the table price.

I was there on Sunday. Parking was not free. A ton of Habs Centennial. Not as much people as in past shows (sign of the economy, rainy-day blahs or maybe just that Lapierre and Bouillon would be showing up at 2:00ish). I was there at 10:30 - out by 2:00. I know of 2 tables who had packed it up by then. Some bargains to be had, but also a couple of tables who were selling a lot of stuff at full Beckett HI. I guess these guys figured that they can get better prices on EB and in US dollars. Their perogative!

Some prices to note - Centennial tins were going for about $40 a pop, Hobby was aroud $140. Packs at $6. One table had sets (1-200) at $36. Another table had the 1-300 set but the price totally slipped my mind. There was only 1 table who was selling boxes (other than just Centennial).

Couldn't find any more Parkhurst autos (still need 6 to complete the base set). Did pick up a 07/08 ITG Datsyuk auto/stick card for $25. A Lemieux Sportsking auto/jersey for $75 and a Crosby Trilogy Superstar Scripts auto for $75. Plus a bunch of other lower end auto cards, some supplies and a couple of Becketts.

For those interested, the next "Collector's International" show will be October 23rd, 24th and 25th.

Albert Langlois and Jean-Guy Talbot were signing. The lines weren't too long. I'm not sure if there was a cost for the auto signings. I didn't wait around for Lapierre or Bouillon.
