more desirable-- YG or Canvas

The YG is more desirable because it is the true rookie, however, looks wise I prefer the canvas.

More desirable, YG. Canvas YG being same price when ppl sell for a couple bucks is weird to me, theyre literally 12x harder to hit, so any Canvas I see at a couple bucks I try and snap up

Anything but the YG. It is IMO the most baffling thing in card collecting. A card that they print 10k-25k (or maybe more of them) still sells so well. It's easily my most hated set so ill vote canvas.

I think that's probably where grading becomes a huge factor. Drives up the price if you have a better grade of the card. It would be nice though if some of the bigger names were harder to pull.

How many "true" rookie cards are in Series 1 and 2? I now know that canvas cards are out, what about the exclusives and high gloss?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm just confused with this retail vs hobby cases question

The Young Guns Canvas, Exclusives and High Gloss are not considered "True" Rookies by a lot (dare I say the vast majority) of hockey card collectors. Only the regular Young Guns are the True rookie cards. The rest are considered parallels.

hockey cards are a weird phenomenon. YG isnt a good example because Exclusives and HG fetch great sums of $, but lets take something like Trilogy as an example.. Level 1/2/3. L3 is worth money because its usually SSP, but L1 goes for more than L2 even though theres less L2. Same deal with Cup RPA and Cup Gold RPA. Gold has less copies, usually always goes for less than regular.

In NFL/NBA/MLB, the parallels are worth more depend according to how many copies the print run is (usually)

its a very weird thing us hockey people do haha (I also do other sports, but 90% of my PC is hockey)
