Hey guys and girls,

Terrible title I know. I'm sure you guys know what's coming. Either way...

I have been meaning to do some scanning for a long time and finally I had some time today to get that done. With the Emerald city comic convention (http://hobbyinsider.net/forum/showthread.php?t=385919) coming up in about 1 month's time, I'm getting psyched up for it. :dizzy:

So here's the latest pick ups for my comic collection. I've been trying to limit the collection to key comics, mostly in the Marvel universe. Most of these pick ups are from Ebay, but there's a few from Craigslist and from a comic book forum. So here's what I have been able to gather up over the past 3 or 4 months.

First of all, here's a few Raw copy Avengers books I was able to pick up. These all come from the seller off of craigslist.

Avengers King Size Special #4


Avengers #21 (Origin and 1st appearance of Power Man (Erik Josten); Enchantress appearance)


Avengers #55 (Crimson Cowl revealed as Ultron-5, 1st Appearance)




The next two comics I bought from Ebay from one seller. The first comic was huge when I was starting to collect comics in the early 1990's, the second a semi key issue in spider-man.


Spawn #1 CGC 9.8 (1st appearance of Spawn (Al Simmons))


Amazing Spider-man #252 CGC9.6 (1st appearance of the black costume)



Next up, is another ebay purchase. I've been trying to land #12 from this title, but this #14 issue presented it self, and so I had to purchase it:

Uncanny X-men #14 CGC 6.0 (1st appearance of Sentinels)











Now onto the top 3 comic pick ups!


@ Number 3- Probably one of the hottest books right now. Super popular character with a movie coming out soon. Picked this up from the boards:


New Mutants #98 CGC 9.8 (1st appearance of Deadpool & others)














@ Number 2- A bit of a toss up between number 1 and 2, it's probably more like 1a, and 1b. But here's one of my favourite characters. Unfortunately Ben Affleck kinda ruined his name a bit with the movie, haha. Here's hoping the new Netflix show turns out to be a good one.

Daredevil #1 CGC 5.0 (1st Appearance of Daredevil)














And lastly, @ Number 1- Another one of my favourite comic book characters of all time. I guess most people can say the same thing. Picked this up at a local comic book show for a decent price. I'm aware there's some signs of wear and such, but the marvel value stamp is included and overall I'm quite pleased to have this in my PC.

Incredible Hulk 181 (1st Full Appearance of Wolverine)



Do you guys think possibly pressing and grading that IH181 is a good idea, or should I just leave it be in it's RAW form? Thoughts?

Now onto scanning some hockey cards, as I'm even further behind on those!

Wow awesome stuff man....I despise grading so I would say leave that puppy raw, even though its valuable you can always pull it out and read it if you wanted, graded you cant do that.

Thanks for your message! Glad you enjoyed. I hear what you're saying but I think I'll just pick up some sorta reprint to read through. I just a bit anxious about reading pricey comics and accidentally smudging a page, etc.

With regards to grading, I'm like you when it comes to Modern comics, or modern hockey cards. Now with vintage comics and cards I actually don't mind them graded. And so, I'm leaning towards pressing the IH181 and grading it, just for the sole purpose of having it protected. I'll think about it some more.

The boards I was talking about were the CGC Forums. Pretty decent. Only draw back, the rule is no other graded comics on there. So you only find CGC comics or raw comics. It's pretty good otherwise. Check it out!

Lu, I've always had a collection since I was a kid - I lose and gain interest in it over the years. Right now I'm interested again, ha - so starting to follow message boards etc. to see what people pick up!
