So two days after MVP ePack was released, UD has now announced that UD2 will be coming to ePack in early May (the 5th I believe)

Two thoughts come to mind:

1. UD will be skipping out on the daily free pack being for MVP in all likelihood and go straight to UD2. the free packs are still for UD1 and overall that set is now a gong show of a disaster if you look at the prices for singles on ComC (e.g. a Gretzky Portraits can be had for around 50 cents).

2. Those green cards, especially for the SPs, could be monsters in the secondary market. Given it takes twice the number of cards to convert than foils and four times as many for the RCs compared to YGs, you're looking at a potentially very valuable card formula.

the green are an absolute beast to convert, specially when you factor in the sp high numbers. it took a lot of active trading to get the Henrique done.

This is the way it should be done IMO. Harder to get parallels is, like it or not, good for the hobby. Keeps collectors active and makes it fun !

100%

It was so much fun trading base cards to try to build towards the difficult to get green version.

I was sending out trade requests like crazy yesterday. I ended up completing north of 20 trades involving just base cards. Last time I did that I was 12 and busting 91-92 UD1

They should just get rid of free epacks.

It works for them from a business perspective. It keeps me coming back to the site. I've got 258 base cards (86 packs) from the free epacks. I haven't purchased anything yet, but who is to say I won't at some point? I won't, though, if there's no reason to visit the website, and it doesn't cost them anything to give me a 3-card base pack every day.

Bingo. The "royal sampler" is perfect for engagement. Having it only be base and not SPs or inserts ensures that buyers have more value.

The only thing I hate right now is the trade floor. The collectors there who want you to trade UD1 inserts for MVP base is a bit absurd. In theory the MVP base are 'worth' more than UD1 since there are no frees to access, but it's still base for base in the end.

I concur, the green are a real female dog to make for the SP's. Got my Sawchuk done and am only a handful away from getting the Zetterberg and Datsyuk's done.

The non SP base while a little time consuming were not bad to get the 20 of each for the Wings Base set.

I hope for future releases they do continue to make it a challenge unlike series 1.

I got my Gallagher MVP Green done this morning, after two days worth of trade offers and dealing. Getting there for the Carey Price is going to be a real challenge--people are really hesitant to deal those ones.
