I thought I had started a thread of my 2019 pick-ups. However, I could not find it so I will make this thread.
My intention is to add my 2019 pick-ups over the next few days in the order they were paid for (I am using my Paypal transactions as the date so there is some order).
I had some collecting goals at the beginning of this year.
The first goal was that I wanted to add a centerpiece card. That goal was accomplished in May.
The second goal was that I wanted to trim down my collection. I have done that and continue to do so. As I trim the fat, I continue to up the bar in terms of the quality that I want to keep. I appreciate all cards but I also appreciate not having 10 two row boxes taking up space in my house.
The last goal was to spend only $2000 on the hobby this year. I figured I could spend $1k on a centerpiece card and then just build around it. I totally failed on this goal by April. Since the horse was out of the barn, so too was my inclination to curb spending.
Now to the pick ups:
February 9th- I grabbed this because there was value involved. I could have flipped it for about $50 profit if I needed the money.
2015-16 Upper Deck Young Guns Connor McDavid
February 10th- I grabbed this because I always wanted one in 9.5 and people do not seem to realize how rare the die cuts are.
2015-16 Upper Deck Full Force Die Cut Connor McDavid
March 12th- I picked four of these up raw. I wanted one but I grabbed four from the same seller for a good price. I subbed all four of them and all four came back PSA 10.
2016-17 O-Pee-Chee Platinum Auston Matthews 1
March 12th- I grabbed these in PSA 10. I am fairly certain there was an eBay promotion going on at the time.

So this was my first quarter. I was in trouble of the $2000 spend hobby goal but in the back of my mind I told myself it was OK because I could sell the McDavid and lower the spend and increase the reserve all in the same transaction.
