Verified Trader,
First of all, thank you Marcel for bringing a card show to town once again. It's always a lot of fun to visit with friends and find new cards to add. It's rare for me to find an Iginla card that I need, so I'll usually pick up some Flames cards. This time around I decided to focus mostly on Monahan cards. Nothing expensive amongst the cards, my high ticket item will be shown at the end.

Now we come to the fun part, showing my connections made at the show using the Book Creator program. I just discovered today that Prisma is now charging a yearly fee, so I'm trying a new app called SuperPhoto to give me that comic book feel for the photos.

The first page shows some of the people that I seem to connect with at most, if not all, of the shows.

First time dealing with Nick, who had a great selection of Calgary Flames "Blaze" magazines. I got a great price, and picked up 21 of them, each with a picture of Iggy on the cover. Looks like I'll have a lot of reading ahead of me. Added bonus was that some of them had a game ticket included.

I bought a box of 2019-20 Superlative from Darren at MLS. I ended up with a dual auto/memorabilia card with Bobby & Brett Hull, #3/3. The Bobby Hull piece is intriguing, I'm not really sure what it is. If you have any ideas please let me know. This card is included with my special item on the final Book Creator page.
Now we come to that big ticket item I mentioned at the beginning. I made a connection with a local artist, Matthew Stewart, who has now started coming to the Calgary Card Show. I wanted an illustration that would pay homage to Iggy's stellar career, and at the same time give a nod to his 600th goal vs Jhonas Enroth. That goal was an "excuse me" type of goal as it went in off of Jake Muzzin, and wasn't a direct shot on goal.

Not exactly something that lends itself to an illustration. So I decided to go with something that I would title "Wishful Thinking" (like artists have titles for their work - eg. Sunflowers by Van Gogh). The wishful thinking was on my part, not Iggy's. It's how I would have liked to see the 600th goal being scored. Matt did my illustration (already taken in for framing), and also gave me some hand numbered and signed prints. I think he did a fantastic job! The jersey looks so real and "alive". I also really like the older pen & ink style of illustrations, so that is what we used on the right side. I didn't want the illustration to look like a giant photo, so the lack of detail on that side is intentional.

I really enjoyed my time at the show, can't wait for the next one!
