Verified Trader ,
Hey folks,
Well, it was a very eventful weekend at the Expo, and I'll be adding the "View from the Hobby Insider Booth" thread in the Hobby Talk section shortly. As my pickups (box breaks) were rather large, I figured I'd do up a show & tell first. So without further adieu!
The first three photos were from an eBay seller I've bought a bunch of pics from, who happened to be set up at Expo. Super guy! Great deal too. Loving the old Brodeur pics! First is him VERY young with the Nords, likely around '72. Second is him saving a shot from Jets sniper, Ulf Nilsson. Third is Brodeur defending against Mark Pavelich, with Harold Snepsts skating around the net!
A card from eBay seller, Memories on Ice, made possible by Jack (horton16). Thanks guys!
This card was a pull by our own Dan (danvincent78), who showed it to me immediately. After talking about it for a day or so, we decided to make a trade - Dan got one of my Superlative redemptions (with Orr & Gretzky), and I got this AWESOME Lord Stanley 1/1 Onyx and a few shekels! This will look AMAZING framed with my original Lord Stanley letter and envelope!! Thanks Dan... you're a credit to this hobby and a very well respected member of HI!
Well, thanks to certain HI members such as Steve (quincy) and Winston (winniescards), as well as Chris (DogfoodSoup), Norm (trekrun), Curt (GabbyGuy), Matt (chadsexington) and Daniel from The Hockey Connection, I was able to knock off a BUNCH of Vachon cards off my want list! A couple came from eBay as well, mixed in. Thanks guys!!
A couple more King Richard cards for my PC! Thanks to Chris (carmichaelpt) for one of the Gold triples as well as Anand (docrinki) for the Gold Brodeur Number 1/1!! I'm in debt (literally) to Anand now, as this card was a HUGE piece of my collection. Thanks guys!! The other cards were eBay wins.
Back at the Fall Expo, I made a deal with Mark (hutch1118) for a Tony Esposito card (I think?) and we hadn't finished the deal. Thanks to Mark for the Fuhr and Mikita/Savard cards! I'm also pretty sure the Raymond auto came from Norm (trekrun), but I could be mistaken?!?
With the new Superlative Franchise set out, the Henderson cards were flying around the room (although I'm still missing a few!). Three of these were from Steve (quincy) and one I cracked from my own book (the gold triple auto!). And yes... by the end of Expo, I pretty much owed Steve my soul...
The next batch of cards were my breaks from Superlative Franchise and Bleu Blanc et Rouge! Most of the Leafs cards were dealt either to Dan (tmlfan67), who was a BLAST to negotiate with, Hans (Gamebreakers) or Daniel from The Hockey Connection. Thanks to ALL for the deals, and Dan... "walk away" my friend
And some of my Team Superlative redemptions! Amazing cards and was able to trade & sell some cards to help pay for some of these cards... fantastic redemptions and kudos to the whole ITG team and Dr. Price!
The next group of cards were from my crazy BTP breaks, all done at the ITG booth for the redemption cards! Thanks to a group of HI members who helped crack the boxes for me! The Rogie auto is from Chris (DogfoodSoup) - thanks dude!! Also note a bunch of 1/1 cards, including the Hasek Auto/Jersey & the Budaj Auto/Jersey, as well as all the redemptions! Since the boxes were cracked on Sunday, ITG ran out of BTP redemptions so we got H&P redemptions in their place... and I'm totally not complaining! 1/1 Selanne & 1/1 Ovechkin?!?!!? SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
And to add some more to this thread (since there's only 36 photos), here is a bunch of mail from the past week or two! These are my "Mail Day" posts, and most are not available.
Picked this sexy beast off of eBay for a nice price... notice the amazing patches! And it's numbered 1/5!!!
It goes VERY nicely with his two brothers... 3/5 & 5/5!!!! (Sorry Jeff... they're staying in the PC now
)
A bunch more Rogies for the PC, including a very easy deal with our own Roger (Sidy) for the 1/1 Cup Patch!
The Forsberg comes from an eBay deal with Arthur (Sendit17), the Satan from Ilhan (sabres11) and the Larry Kwong card was a gift from my good bud, Chad (choppinbroccoli), who I'm sure will advise everyone about this card in the very near future (likely a future Insider's Edge magazine!!). Thanks guys!!!
ALSO! Look for my Non-Sports post in the Non-Sports section!
Thanks for the look! Most of the cards above are available, other than the obvious Mail Day, King Richard, Paul Henderson & Rogie Vachon cards!!
