I bought a new jersey the other day, but the story on it is incomplete. I figured that I would ask you guys since a lot of you own game used jerseys yourself, so you might be able to tell me what I've got here. Here is the information I know already:

1. I did not buy it from the original owner. People in my area might recognize where it came from ;)
2. It came directly from the Nashville Predators in a lot that also included white jerseys for Mike Dunham and Jordin Tootoo.
3. It does not have any game-used tag on it I've seen on the meigray ones.

Enough about that, here are some pictures... #19 Martin Erat:

This one does have an auto on it. First thing to note is the Koho patch on the back:

It does have the fight strap. That's not the real reason I'm asking the questions, I know you can get blank jerseys with a fight strap, ie my Fishsticks Islanders jersey is like that.

This is all there is of the collar tag. The size (56) and the origin tag. The origin tag is not torn at all, if the picture makes it look that way.

This is an oddity (maybe I'm wrong, please explain if I am) and why I pointed out the Koho patch. There is another tag inside (washing instructions) here but it is CCM, not Koho.

On the opposite side of the CCM tag is a simple sticker like you'd see for a price tag. The top numbers are "00 150" and the bottom is "4 08 00". This second set of numbers looks like it could be a date?

So that was all the pictures I figured I'd need. Since all the NHL jerseys I currently own are either replicas (with the exception of my Islanders which is official but it has no name/numbers on it) what would you say I actually have here?

There's a possibility it could be a gamer...and then again there's a possibility it could be a very well done replica.

After doing a bit of footwork, the Koho tag on the back, and the CCM tag on the side seem to be somewhat consistent with what you'd see on an 01-02 Preds away jersey, as does the lack of material in the collar.

Example: http://www.classicauctions.net/Default.aspx?tabid=263&auctionid=56&lotid=691

Though this jersey (3rd one down) has a Canadian Flag on the Made in Canada tag:

If it were a regular season gamer, it could only be from 2001-02 because the 02-03 jerseys had the 5 patch near the right shoulder, 03-04 and 05-06 are Meigray tagged by the looks of it, and the Preds jerseys from 05-06 on Meigray also seem to be RBK tagged on the back as opposed to Koho. I don't know how long Erat wore #19 for either...3 years maybe? and if it can't be 02-03 and 03-04 based on disqualifying traits, it's circa 01-02.

CCM had bought Koho in the late 90s - making it The Hockey Company. On the dark jerseys, they had the Koho tags on the back. On the white jerseys, it was CCM.

The tag on the laundry tag is the date of production - from the looks of things, the jersey was made April 8th, 2000

So as far as being an authentic game jersey - that I can confirm.

Thanks guys. I figured about the CCM/Koho thing with the jerseys since I first looked it up on nhluniforms, and they showed different tags for each. And according to hockeydb, Erat only wore 19 in 01-02 and 02-03, but they don't take in effect if numbers changed mid-year or not.

As far as the Miegray tags go, I had some questions about that. Are they like a funnel company, such as jerseys can go through them? Or do they just tag everything now, even as much that a player could be wearing a jersey in a game that has their tag on it?

And for those who have gotten jerseys from a team sale, do they have special tags on them?

I would say it is most likely game issued, but it's hard to tell from the pics if it has the game-used look to it. From the Meigray's I have in my collection, it looks game-issued to me.
This is just my opinion and really hard to confirm without seeing it in person.

Nice auto/jersey of a great player!

Thanks. I agree, except for maybe the fray on the fight strap, it looks fairly new. I haven't looked for imperfections on it yet, but there are definately no stains on it.

Very nice. Martin Erat doesn't get a lot of love from hobby manufacturers but he is a very skilled player. I want to pick up a gamer of his for my game worn pc.

It's awesome Phil....I think they had others there as well from different players...they had skate cuts and puck marks on them

If it shows no wear, I'd guess it's a game issue, I've had these in the past where they have what looks like a price gun sticker, and I think they're ones that are brought down and made up as a gamer and they mark them as such with the little tag to have the "born-on" date, so to speak. My Rob Hisey Stars had the same type of tag.
