Hello everyone, I know I'm not extremely active on HI but I have a ton of friends on here so figured I'd share my top pickups of what's been an incredible year for me. Impossible to rank these accurately so take the placements with a grain of salt as it changes day by day based on my mood. Anyway, here's the cards!
First some honorable mentions:

This Trottier 05/06 The Cup Honorable Numbers is awesome as it is but it also has the distinction of being, to this date, the only Trottier on card Cup patch auto that's ever been produced as he cut ties with Upper Deck shortly after, making it one of the best Trottier cards ever produced.

Incredible Stanley Cup patch on this Lemieux 07/08 The Cup Honorable Numbers. Snagged this one at the expo.

06/07 Cup Limited Logos Mario Lemieux

15/16 Cup Enshrinements triples with Sakic/Roy/Bourque, three of the best ever at their positions. Happy I got to pick this one up at the most recent expo.

As an Ovi guy, I couldn't believe this was the only one I picked up this year but 11/12 Dominion Peerless Patches are by far my favorite Panini hockey subset so this one was great to pick up. Also snagged this at the expo.

Another 07/08 Limited Logos, this one is a short print though /22 of one of the greatest of his generation, Marcel Dionne. I think not winning a Cup really hurt his legacy but I think he should still be considered in a higher tier than he is, since he is 6th all time in points. Patch is unreal too.

Another 07/08 Cup card, love this trios featuring multi-colored game used swatches of 3 of the best ever. Some people say Messier doesn't deserve to be on it but I think those people must be Vancouver fans.

Another 11/12 Dominion Peerless Patch, this one of Lemieux and it's an SP /25

One of the last big cards I had to add for my 06/07 The Cup Signature Patch set. Love the glove patch too, nice second year game used piece. Still 3 cards away from putting it away...

You'll be hard pressed to ever find a better Patrice Bergeron patch auto than this one. 05/06 The Cup Limited Logos were printed on the wrong gloss for signatures so the majority of them have awful bubbly autographs so it was especially nice to find this one with a perfect bold auto. This one is not only one of the most dominant 2 way players ever but it's also a short print /25 and features an awesome swatch from the Bruins crest. Bergy hasn't signed cards in almost a decade so his high end cards have become increasingly difficult to come across.

Another 07/08 Honorable Numbers but this one is extremely rare, being /5 of the second best defenseman of all time. Couldn't believe I found this one from a random person on Twitter with 15 followers and no profile picture so I was even more shocked when it actually showed up to my house.

Back to Limited Logos. This one is just a monster, one of the best goal scorers of all time no question. Bossy's one of my favorite players to collect and there's actually two more of his cards in the top 10.

Okay, now we're getting into some heavy hitters, this list is already so different than the one I put on Instagram because it's impossible for me to rank these cards.

This is a card that I like a lot from 15/16 Ultimate patch auto with a shoulder patch /5 of Joe Sakic. This is a card I like a lot but didn't realize until I shared it how much other people LOVE it. I'm happy to keep it in my collection for now though :D

This one is kind of cheating but I've recently fallen in love with jersey numbered Honorable Numbers. I've been fortunate enough to find these 3 from 08/09 The Cup this year and hopefully I can find more in the future although it'll be tough to get much better than these.

By far my favorite pick up I got at the expo. This card travelled from GabbyGuy to Gomaz and I was lucky enough to grab it in his booth before 10 other people tried to. This chunk of history is just one of those cards that I get excited about every time I pick it up. What I love about this piece in particular is that I know it’s from Lippman’s Tool Shop, Detroit, Michigan, which prepared all the Red Wings sticks from Sawchuk’s rookie season until they switched to Olympic in 1958. Being able to pinpoint the stock to early to mid 50s makes this card so much cooler to me. I can’t say with 100% certainty but the stamp seems to line up exactly with how it looked on 1952 sticks. This one is going to the grave, sorry guys.

The 04/05 Ultimate Patch Auto set is one I picked up this year and this is unquestionably the best card in the set. Happy to add a Wayne whenever I can but the design on this one I think is particularly awesome. Maybe I can finish the set in 2023.

I told you there would be more Bossy! This is the 1/1 base patch auto from 07/08 The Cup and it's one of my favorite years for these of one of my all time favorite players. I don't mind at all that the patch is one color, I know it's real!

Believe it or not, I am a Panthers fan, so this is probably as good as it gets for Limited Logos for my team. The full snout of the Panther in this patch window, just stunning.

I actually bought a shield this year, unexpectedly. Showed up at an alarmingly low price in a very small Facebook group but when the opportunity arises to acquires a game used shield of the guy that's 5th all time in points for a great price, you buy it and worry about PayPal claims later if it's too good to be true. Luckily it actually arrived and it's beautiful!

Most of my years of collecting, this would be my hands down, no questions asked, #1 pickup. One of the single rarest cup subsets ever made, the Stanley Cup Titlists are only numbered to how many Stanley Cups that player won in his career. This is just a card I never even thought I'd have a chance at acquiring as there is one collector that has the majority of these locked away. The majority of them, including this one, came out of 05/06 The Cup so to get one of Bossy is a dream come true for me.

A card that got listed on eBay earlier this year and I slammed BIN about 2 minutes after it was listed. Still can't believe I own this one, 06/07 The Cup base patch auto 1/1 of Patrick Roy.

It's only fitting that my #1 card actually was purchased right here on Hobby Insider. Big shoutout to holygoalie for making this available and working with me on a deal. The 06/07 Signature Patch set is a behemoth 90 card set and this one was by far the one I was most worried about ever acquiring as it is the only year Gordie Howe ever had Red Wings Cup Patch autos, making any of these extremely coveted. I can sleep a lot better at night since this showed up LOL

Thanks everyone for looking and reading! Hope everyone has a great and safe holiday and an even better 2023 for collecting!

You’ve had a very busy and productive year Mitch. This is a stunning group of cards! Thanks for sharing your incredible cards, and All the Best for a healthy and prosperous New Year!

Great haul! I believe that's only the 3rd copy of the Gordie SP that I've ever seen! My fav would be the Ukey as well  I never knew Curt owned that bugger...:foottap::laugh:

A bunch of beauties. Very nice.

That Mahovlich has gotta be tops for me with special shoutout the Sawchuck (too bad he's wearing the wrong jersey!)

Man, the S&T threads this year are STRONG! I love the Frank Signature Patches but that Sawchuk and Howe are just staggering. Man those are unbelievable cards. Absolutely amazing show and thanks for sharing! That Sawchuk...

Seems like I've helped a lot of HI members here with their Top cards of 2022, including you. Call me Santa. If I grew my beard out, I'd look like him. Ho Ho Ho.

Great listing of cards, Mitch!

Just plain 'High end' cardboard.Out of all of those, I enjoyed all the Bossy's

Congrats on your year

Amazing additions Mitch. Great to see you posting here thanks for sharing!

My favorite is that dual auto patch… look at these beautiful patches and signatures, they look like Kalligraphic compared to autos from nowadays:foottap::laugh::thumbsup:

Thank you for the show

Helge

Your honourable mention cards were outstanding as well! I could tell from those that there were going to be some epic acquisitions. That Howe card is amazing. One of my all time favorite sets I own is the Ultimate Auto Patch collection from 04-05. Thanks for sharing such awesome pickups for 2022 and hoping 2023 is as productive.
