I just got my XBOX back from my friend, and I've been playing 2K6 like crazy. I originally started The Association on All-Star with Cleveland (I couldn't resist having LeBron on my team), and decided to develop it into a championship powerhouse. I've been making trades like crazy, so I had a dry spell of losses (I went from #1 to #9 in the Power Rankings), but I think it's finally coming together. Here's my starting lineup:
Sam Cassel - PG
Mike Miller - SG
LeBron James - SF
Dirk Nowitzki - PF
Zaza Pachulia - C
The rest of my team are (in order of in-game ranking):
Anderson Varejao - PF
Chris Paul - PG
Luke Jackson - SF
Kendrick Perkins - C
Jason Caffey - PF
Robert Swift - C
Steve Blake - PG
Willie Green - SG
Ha Seung-Jin - C
LeBron is LeBron; currently highest scorer in my league, and of course he brings in 6-8 assists per game, sometimes more. Cassel often pulls in 12-15 assist games, and at least has 6-8 in every game. As for scoring, he's only really good for open mid-range shots and open lay-ups. Mike Miller is very versatile, as he can drive/dunk, he has some notable ball-handling skills, and it's really easy to hit the three with him. He's gotten player of the game a few times, and even a few 40+ pt games. Only thing is he's streaky, and will install brick walls around the court for some games. I've yet to play with Nowitzki on The Association (I just got him), but I got him for obvious reasons: He's big, has handles, is fast, and can shoot from anywhere on the court. Pachulia has really only been good for blocks, but he sometimes gets 15 pt games. He often brings in 3+ blocks in a game, though.
Yes, I got rid of Ilgauskas. Why, you ask? He's one of the best centers in the league, but he just isn't a scoring powerhouse, which is what I need if I'm going to be spending $12+million for a single player. My answer was Nowitzki. I had to make at least one blockbuster trade for the season, and I guess he was it. I ended up sending Zydrunas Ilgauskas, J.R Smith (acquired alongside Chris Paul in a previous trade) and my lowest-sought first round draft pick over to Dallas just for Nowitzki. I almost didn't do it, but then I realized I had three other first round picks, two of which are most likely to be #'s 1 and 2. So yeah, I now have LeBron and Nowitzki on my team.
Next things I have to work on is obviously my bench, and I need a high-rated Center. Hopefully Nowitzki will make up for that loss for now. I'm about $5-7million below the salary cap, so it shouldn't be that hard.
