Am i the only one who these guys drive crazy? I have a few suggestions to improve the quality.

1. Mike Milbury- From this point forward every time you go all monthly on a i'm the smartest on national tv, J.R. gets to punch you in the back of the head and yell CALL DOWN GRANDMA.

2. Pierre Mcguire- Ah Pierre you fill us with useless facts nobody cares if Sidney Crosby sleeps with a down comforter, or that Drew Doughty played for the Moose Jaw Lumberjacks in 2003. From now on everytime you mention where a guy played before the NHL, You have to end it like Norman Chad of the WSOP "i believe they were the Ramblin Wreck".

3. Doc and Edzo- These 2 are generally ok most of the time, they should however make a drinking game with them. Every time Doc says DRIVE or Waffle Board he must have a shot. Anytime Edzo talks about the Black Hawks during a game when the Hawks aren't playing its a double shot, you will be wasted by the end of the first if you play along. I understand he's a homer but that really gets annoying.

Thanks for the vent, if you have any tweaks please feel free to add.

Don't have a problem with Doc

Eddie NO is an idiot

Cue ball is right there with Edzo

Milbury, not sure I'm usually grabbing a beer between periods and don't listen to it.

I don't understand why Pierre always feels the need to name drop and say where a player grew up and which team they played for in junior.

"Troy Brouwer's not afraid of the physical stuff, it's from his years in the WHL playing for the Moosejaw Warriors and then in the AHL with the Norfolk Admirals and Rockford IceHogs. He gets it, he really gets it".

WTF is that? You don't hear "Lebron James' really developed his athleticism playing for St. Vincent Mary's High School in Akron, Ohio."

Milbury and Jones are both complete morons. Yes, they have decent knowledge of the game and the league, but their biases are so obvious, it's extremely unprofessional. I remember watching the post-game when the Pens 15-game winning streak was broken by Buffalo, and Jones couldn't stop his ear-to-ear grin. Even when he wasn't talking. It was disgusting. Milbury hates Ovechkin so much he shouldn't be allowed to comment, that's how bad I think it is.

JR is just an idiot. Terrible public speaker, and his blatant hatred for Crosby on the air is unprofessional to the max. Didn't watch the intermissions last night, as like wingnut, I usually grab a beer or do some quick work on something around the house during intermission. But my friend texted me and told me JR went almost psychotic ranting about Conacher's penalty that led to Kunitz' PP goal. True?

McGuire is a moron. Plain and simple. World Juniors. He's the Jerry Seinfeld of broadcasting. Just full of useless information.

Edzo is ok. Can be irritating sometimes but I don't mind him.

Emrick is ok. In short bursts. The DRIVE and SCORE is kinda irritating. I respect his knowledge of the game and professionalism.

I'm starting to really like Kenny Albert. I don't find him annoying, he's professional, and he's actually suprised me with some of his hockey knowledge recently. He's probably my favorite play-by-play guy. Only thing is, dude doesn't blink. Watch him during the next pre-game he does. Creepy.

I don't mind Ed Olczyk at all. I think he;s fairly knowledgeable and adds to the commentary without being over the top like McGuire.

Doc Emmerick is ok too. He can be a little over the top sometimes with DRIIIIIIIIIIIVE but I can live with him.

I can't stand McGuire. Yes, he knows a lot, but he comes off as arrogant and has a need to go over everyone and talk about how a dump in was so perfect it lead to a goal 3 shifts later or how Mike Richards killed a fly that was buzzing around his head in the locker room at the warm ups is the reason why his hand eye coordination was great that game. It's a shame because he knows so much yet focuses on bragging about what and who he knows instead of being a valuable contribution to the game.

Nobody mentioned Dave Strader but I think this guy is the best PxP in the game right now. He has a great voice. Never over the top and doesn't make any bad calls.

Darren Pang can be a bit of a pinhead but I like him. He does get a little too excited about goalies but I can live with that.

What's the guy with the mullet between the benches? Couldn't care less about him.

On the few odd occasions that I had to watch hockey on NBC, I turned off the sound. I just can't roll with most of those guys. Not that CBC is any better but I much prefer them over the announcers on NBC. Even TSN is decent at times. I don't mind McGuire to be honest.
Secondly I am one to enjoy those tidbits of information they give. It gives me an interesting perspective on the game. Where they grew up, what teams the player played for, its all good to me.

Anyways, back at it guys lol

Pierre Mcguire

One of the worst I have ever had to endure. The list of his faults is long.

1) He attempts to interject himself into almost every conversation.
2) He gushes over mediocre players making a nice play - even though it was the only
play they made all week.
3) Too much first person - I would take him & he is MY first choice and so on.
4) He clearly has a favorite team of the night before play begins - and waxes poetic.
5) He acts like he is buddies with every star - even though most cannot stand him
( and that is fact not fiction). Even the local IHL'ers talk about him with disdain.
6) He is still clearly wishing for the GM job that no one will give him.
7) He is between the glass - yet feels the need to try and do the 'color' portion of the
job.

I really do not understand why NBC does not pick up Ken Daniels for the balance of the playoffs. He is extremely knowledgeable, has a great voice and when not in the empoly of the Wings is a very good announcer.

Doc Emrick is an old pro, sure his tag line gets old, but he is a pro plain and simple.

Milbury and Jones - I find it hard to believe that NBC thinks this is the best studio pair available. There are so many former players/coaches around someone has got to be better.

TSN usually covers the same games that are on NBC, so I tend to stick with their broadcast. Have had occasion to listen to Milbury (waste of time) and Maguie (when was the last time someone got slammed with a Double Dion??) and really would prefer to listen to others.

Though good hockey guys, at least on TV, seem to be few and far between these days.

Here is an example of Eddie O at his finest! How dare he try to avoid a hits!!!
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HdZvHHqYjow

Going low so the point of contact is a guys thigh or knee is exactly what he said, dangerous, for both the hitter and the hittee, not to mention illegal. You cannot submarine or low bridge a player below the waist, it's a penalty. Yak was lucky he didn't get a knee guard right to the grill or head, it could have ended up very bad for both players.

I can't stand Carcillo, and not really a fan of Olzcyk, I just think you picked a bad example to blast the guy over. We can all post videos of every teams announcers being way over the top and complete homers. Some are valid points, others are wrong.

I'll gladly take any of the guys people are complaining about in this thread over the Bruins or Penguins announcers. Those two a way worse then anyone mentioned here.

For some stupid reason I kind of like Piere McGuire...no real reason why and I certainly get why everyone hates him but I am strangely fond of him. Milbury is Milbury....I am sure NBC loves his idiotic rants. I like Doc enough - rarely do you hear "scales" or "spikes" more frequently than when he does a broadcast. Jones is terrible...JR is only slightly better.

The Canucks were awful in the first round but having to listen to the Sharks broadcast for all four games just added insult to injury. Wish they had a national team doing the call...would have annoyed me less anyway.

I'm with Joe. I've always enjoyed Pierre. There are times when he'll say something that irks me, like after Eberle scored the game tying goal against Russia at the Juniors.

Gord Miller - Eberle scores, tie game; can you believe it?

Pierre McGuire - I can . . .

I guess somebody forgot to inform Pierre that the question from Gord Miller was rhetorical.

On the whole though I like him. And when he does do stuff like above in my head I just go Pierre McGuire; moment killer. And then a little song plays in my head afterwards.

Eddie O should never i repeat never be allowed to cover a hawks playoff game on national coverage. His homerism is more than annoying its flat out repulsive, please God let Dave Strader cover the rest of the games in this series.

I honestly couldn't agree more...

The only redeeming factor will be that if the final winds up being the Penguins vs Blackhawks, Olcyzyk may actually explode trying to keep up.

Milbury and Pierre are okay but can be annoying at times,

Edzo is alright as I have no problems about him so far

I love Doc as in my mind he is one of the best guys to do it, if you close your eyes he is is doing the play by play like a great radio person does it... I know Dan Patrick says he is one of the greats for all sports
