Need advice on a rookie card scenario

I've been collecting at least one rookie card of all the more recognizable Flames in team history, and I came across a strange one the other day. I was looking for a Joel Otto RC and I realized his only rookie card is an OPC error card where Moe Lemay is pictured with Otto's name on the card and Otto is pictured with Lemay's name on the card. Which card would you consider his real rookie card? Or does he simply not have a true rookie card because of that? Or even possibly his OPC card from the following year?

Any advice or help is appreciated!

Conventional wisdom is that the card that says Joel Otto on it is his true RC.

I had a similar issue with Paul MacLean's rookie card. His 82-83 true RC says Paul MacLean but pictures someone else who's name I cannot remember. However, his 83-84 card says his name and has his picture, so for me and my PC, that is the card that I consider to be his "true RC" and is therefore the card I have in my PC. I have zero interest in his 82-83 card.

Another case that is the same as yours is the Steve Larmer/Steve Ludzik rc's from 1983-84. Photo mixup. In that case, I "think" that I would want one of each to fulfill my need for a Larmer RC, if I needed one.

I'd say a copy of each would count as his RC "combo". I think it's a pretty cool error and is almost like each is a variation of his RC.

Thanks for the advice guys. I already own the card with Otto pictured on it, so I think I'll buy the other one as well then

I got both of them just because they are both otto

Al arbour and Dineen had the same thing and I bought both for my Arbour collection!!!
