I am Leaving the hobby due to turning it into an addiction and now trying to save my marriage. I need to make my wife my number one priority and instead for the last five years my only priority was me and my selfishness to Hockey cards.

The reason I need help is, I want to sell my whole collection included a Framed 2008/2009 Rookie patch auto uncut sheet with a Stamkos rookie and other big names. I have over $40,000+ worth of very high end cards that you can see in my bucket. Plus plus over five thousand dollars worth of high end basketball and football and baseball cards. I would like to sell the whole lot of them at once or try and find someone that will sell all of them for me on Ebay, and I will definitely be generous with the sharing of profits.

I don't want to spend the time to sell and ship them myself, as well as the time to list everything on Ebay, as I need to work on my addiction. Can someone in Calgary or the near area help me to get rid of everything. There are more important things in life for me right now, and I need to fix them. I need to separate myself from the hobby in whole.

Is there a company or a person that I can take all of my cards to so they can list them for me, as well as ship them out for me?

Thanks to everyone who can give me some advice. Please let me know if anyone can help.

My bucket is below with most of the cards I own.

Thanks

Jason

I'm at the point where the hobby is turning into an addiction as well. It's been playing in the back of my mind for awhile. After a long talk with my wife, a new child, the need for a bigger house and other upcoming expensenses I can totaly sympathize with you.

I'm not anywhere near the marriage breakdown, but I feel like I have to change my habits to keep it away from the addiction.

Good luck with everything...

Glad you can finally see what this should be...a hobby, a small part of life....and not life....

Maybe keep one or two items....

either way...

all the best.

Check with your local card shop, also the West's here in Edmonton might be able to help you out, they also list cards on Ebay for their customers.

In his case it's probably best to pack every single one in a box and be done with it. Which ones do I keep, if I kept that one I may as well keep this one, if I keep this one I may as well keep the set, and so on. Any trace left behind could lead to anxiety and possible problems and arguments down the line. I say go cold turkey.

Best of luck, I wish I could help

good luck with the sale

i would love to see what you have of Tavares, but your bucket is actually not working

Brother, I know what you're going through. I'm walking towards a crossroads myself. I've had some family issues arise in recent months and cards are becoming a bit of an excessive part of my life. Good on you for realizing your priorities and chasing after them. I hope all works out for you.

I agree with Kevin that cold turkey is the way to go. Having had the pleasure of meeting your wife I would probably do the same thing dude, she's a catch!

I'll miss having you as a hobby friend but let's be sure to kick back and watch a hockey game and drink a couple beers! (I won't bring any cards).

All the best!

This usually happens around this time... after the Credit Card bills come out for The Cup & Dominion purchases. I'm in the same boat myself... good luck to everybody.

Thank you Thank you Thank you

Wow... so much support!!! I have tears in my eyes while I am typing this to all of you. I am so Thankful for all of your support and I am so excited now to start the healing process.

I'm an addict and I am not ashamed to admit that to the world. I did not know that the help out there was so positive. This was not a hobby to me anymore as soon as I started to lie and figure out ways that I could get money to buy hockey cards. I am so lucky to have a wife that is willing to give me a second chance at our marriage. I need to be the one to save our marriage and the only way that I can, was to seek counseling and to start the healing process myself.

I have sold every last card that I have to a great member on this site who understands what I am going through. He is a hero to me and now a great friend. If this guy could get an award for being super positive, sincere, honest and supportive, he deserve it. It feels so good to have everything gone and out of the house. It was my second huge step to recovery. The first was to realize that my wife and family are my number one priority.

Thank you to absolutely everyone who extended their hand to help me, and I am truly grateful for all of the messages to help me. Good luck to all, and I wish everyone a very happy and joyful holiday season with their loved ones. I am so excited to start my new life with my beautiful wife. It feels like we just met again for the first time right now. I have lots to do to build trust again in our marriage, but I know I can do it. Please remember that this is a great hobby and there are lots of great people to meet in this hobby as well, but please don't lose site of what truly matters in life and that is the people that love you and support you.

Thank you to everyone!!!!!:):):)

Awesome that you were able to move everything out so quick and let go cold turkey. You'll feel 1000 times better about it. Very happy for you

Hope you can get better and one day come back to collecting and making this a HOBBY!
