Hello HI,

I recently posted in the "How bad is the mail right now?" thread about my much delayed UD E-Pack card request. After a third inquiry yesterday, I have received an email just now telling me they have decided to send the nearly 140 card package my way without two of the cards, as they were unable to fulfill them for some unstated reason.

Of course, those two "missing" cards are an Elias Pettersson YG Canvas and a Jack Hughes Synergy Green RC auto #'d to 99.

They have stated they are unable to send these two due to an "unregrettable error." They have put the ball in my court by requesting "my opinion for what would be a fair amount" in COMC store credit.

Does anyone here have prior experience with something like this? I'm pretty miffed about the entire thing, to be quite honest.

A little extra info. I requested a shipment of 139 cards from the E-Pack site in June and was given a target arrival date of October 4th. I received an update from COMC on September 23rd that the package was being put together, would be shipped the 28th, and should arrive on three original stated date.

That update came with an invoice of what would be in the package, as well as the cards I upgraded to one touches, my paid shipping, and my declared insurance value. The Pettersson and Hughes are included on this invoice.

Wow, that's no fun at all. While I do understand the whole pandemic issue, I really feel as if COMC has put itself in a position where it has too much on its plate, so to speak. Even the most understanding person would certainly be upset that they missed a deadline that they themselves set 3 months earlier, and have now misplaced some of your cards. What if they were 1/1's? That would be brutal.

While it probably doesn't help you in any way, I can at least laugh at their usage of the word "unregrettable" in this situation

I don’t get it. Multiple copies of both of those cards are available for sale on their site. If for some reason they screwed up and misplaced yours, why would they not simply purchase the missing cards for you and add them to your shipment? If you were somehow bothered by the change in serial number for the Hughes (maybe it was meant to be jersey numbered) then offering a credit for your troubles might be appropriate.

They need help with their logistics. They have a fantastic opportunity with the recent resurgence in the hobby, and I hope they get it right. The wait times, “unregrettable errors” (or even regrettable ones), should not happen. I requested a shipment from them a few weeks ago and have been given an expected delivery date in February. With proper logistics it wouldn’t matter if the cards were scattered across the globe, they should be able to do better than that.

I'd be pretty upset..... and no, I have no experience with anything like this from COMC (my experiences with the site have always been positive).

How much credit should you ask for? I can come up with an easy enough number....

The Hughes is available for $90.24 on COMC
The Petterson is available for $94.25 on COMC

I'm assuming the rest of your cards have been pulled, and are being shipped.

I would be asking for $184.49, plus the cost of sending two cards with express shipping to you. I'm not sure what those shipping costs will be, but since you're in the USA, I'm guessing it should be around $200 total.

I pulled all my cards from COMC. Based on how they run their business, I wasn’t comfortable having any cards of value in their hands.

Man, sorry to hear about that scenario. I hope you can turn that COMC credit into something nice of course, but still, that is a very unfortunate situation that you found yourself in the first place.

Thank you to everyone who responded! I asked to either wait until the cards could be fulfilled or to receive a highball compensation amount of $300 (based on card values + shipping + delays + the Pettersson was hopefully pristine and headed for grading + the general fact that both cards could not be fulfilled for some an unstated reason).

They countered with around $184 (pretty much exactly what 30RanfordFan suggested) or they could offer replacements, which I could choose to store on COMC or have shipped immediately.

I chose to ship immediately. Not the most lucrative cards, but they were still nice hits that I pulled myself from boxes on the E-Pack site and I want them in my collection.

I'll try to not go full vitriolic here. There's a lot I did not like about how both COMC and UD handled this, but major kudos to COMC for promptly responding after they alerted me to the initial problem.

Now here's hoping they actual show up. I'm busy teaching through my first semester at the college level these days anyway, but I think I'll continue taking a break from the hobby for a bit and just live vicariously through the Show and Tell on this great site.

As an addendum to this - I received my cards today after they expressed shipped it to me (Aside from the Hughes and Pettersson). After crosschecking everything with my invoice, they stiffed me on the one card I was most looking forward to: an 18-19 Chronology Brodeur Timeless Masterpieces Canvas autograph.

Here's hoping I can resolve this new issue through email, since they aren't taking calls right now.

I'm officially on a long break from the hobby after this. :foottap:

Check eBay sales for those same serial numbers. I wonder if the error was they accidentally slid into the auction pile and went to eBay.

Oh man sorry to hear about yet another issue, especially on a nice Brodeur card like that. It's a shame and I hope this can get resolved.

Yup, this is concerning. I’ve taken my first plunge with COMC (about 2 weeks ago), and they projected an early December delivery on a very rare card....

Mine seems like small beans compared to what you’re dealing with. I hope it works out well for you.

I've stuck up for COMC multiple times, but the fact that I have a total of 29 cards from 3 mailbox orders due to be processed September 23rd, 24th, and 25th that still haven't shown up in my account is certainly bothering me

Final (hopefully!) update on this one and then I'll stop bumping it. On Monday I finally decided to go the PayPal dispute route with this one. I dug through my order history on the E-Pack site and found the information for the three boxes I would have opened for each of the missing cards.

Talked to PayPal over the phone and they opened claims for each purchase (luckily the Brodeur card was just within the 180 day window). Trying to explain to the customer service representative how the E-Pack site operates, UD's use of COMC to ship physical cards, and even how trading card box breaking works in general was... interesting. However, they were very kind and patient with me.

Less then two hours after putting in the disputes - I received simultaneous emails for UD and COMC. UD does not have the Chronology Brodeur card but will replace it with a higher value autograph and three COMC email had an express tracking number for the Pettersson and Hughes cards.

So, this seems to have been resolved. The Hughes and Pettersson actually arrived last night. One thing I find interesting - COMC originally told me they could not fulfill the specific cards I pulled, then when I asked for replacements they noted that they would be different copies of the same cards (because they had some of both on their store).

Well, the Hughes Synergy is #'d 62/99, which is the same numbering from the one I pulled from the E-Pack site (I take screenshots of my big pulls. Good dose of serotonin later!). Guess they found my card after all...

Thank you again everything for responding, whether with condolences or advice. It was very much appreciated.

Great to hear a happy(ish) ending.

Nice and frustrating to hear they are able to ship some cards out quickly.
