Need help choosing....

I just recieved this response from Barry. He wasn't able to answer why there is a retail tag.

James, The staples certainly bother me, but I would not be able to conclusively authenticate the jersey without having it in my hands.

The jersey also should come with a letter of authenticity. I would ask the seller to show you the LOA. If one is not available, I would be further concerned.

Finally, I will check our database in the morning to see who we show as the registered owner.
Barry at MGG

Here is another message that addresses the tag issue.

Hi James,We could not issue another LOA, as only one per jersey can be made. We would, for a $50 registration fee (and return shipping), examine and re-register the jersey and issue a letter on our stationary explaining that the original LOA did not accompany the jersey and we are authenticating the jersey.

We could authenticate it if we were able to examine it. The staples concern me, but the tagging on certain 03-04 gamers did carry that tag in the neck, so that should not concern you.

Obviously we have no ideas how the staples got onto the jersey.

I'd stay away from this thing...to many weird things are popping up...plus the guy is basically refusing to give you the letter...if he is serious about selling this thing and was a respectable collector he would have all these items in place already.....this thing sounds like a horror story waiting to happen...plus its only been used for one period....get a "real" gamer instead which wasn't used for less then 1 game

All the red flags are up on this one...and the guys over at Gameworn...who are collectors and are educated about these jerseys feel that this thing is a fake. If your serious about getting a game worn jersey this isn't the one to get...If you feel like spending $100 and getting a knock-off be my guest. The whole LOA is a MAJOR red flag....he can't find it in his pile...B.S.!!! Just look elsewhere for a jersey for your own piece of mind. Read the posts in Gameworn in the link listed above...If informed experts are saying fake then a newbie like yourself surely should listen.

I understand what you are saying. I was just really excited when it got listed and after seeing all of the red flags I am left disappointed. It would have been my third game used Stajan jersey. What if he does send me a photo of the LOA?

James

Two ways to look at this..

one.. this most likely is not a fake, but there are a lot of red flags.

Seems odd someone would go to this length then obtain a REAL MGG tag for said jersey, remove and put it in the fake. Just not logical

However since there are a lot of red flags that means most will be turned off by it and you can get it relatively cheap and then use that 50 bucks you save to have Stu at MGG authenticate it.
