Sold this card the day SPGU released for $399. Guy hit the BIN and paid right away. I paid for Express Global Prioritiy with insurance.

He received the card 20 days ago. Now I get this message:

HI there,

I have received your card.

I have noticed that there is some damage to the upper left corner of the card. I won't be able to have this graded. What can we do to work this out?

Thanks.

I looked the card over carefully before listing it and it was not damaged. Being it is a thick card the cut is not 100% razor sharp, but corners should be nothing less than a 9. I think the guy is having buyer's remorse as these are selling for much cheaper now. Last message he sent he's asking me to file a claim with the post office under the insurance I bought. I've asked him to send me a picture of the corner and the damage, and he said he will "in a few days when he gets his camera back".

I think I can deny his return altogether as he waited more than 14 days after receipt of delivery to contact me. I will most likely take a negative feedback, but oh well. This whole scenario just smells rotten to me.

Could use a little advice here! Thanks.

Dan

I think you're in the right. You didn't make the promise that it was gradable so the buyer shouldn't expect this. The condition looks very acceptable in the picture you've supplied.

It sucks that buyers can use negative feedback to hold a seller hostage. What's worth more to you, $399 US or 1 negative feedback on eBay? At the very least you should report the buyer now that he's making inappropriate demands on returns. If he does leave a negative you may have recourse calling customer service. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about 1 negative.

First off, postal insurance doesn't cover damage, only lost items. I would worry about him making a Paypal claim as item not as described. He will win if you said like new as condition and didn't disclose any issues. I would see if he would take a partial refund of $50 or something. Otherwise he will return the card and get all his money back through PayPal. People have 180 days now to make the claim so be careful.

I would just offer a refund. No questions asked. Yeah, he's probably trying to screw you over, but I'd be more worried that he'll ding it intentionally (just to justify his complaint) and then return it. Just try and get a mint card back.

Would you mind posting the buyers ID? I'd certainly want to avoid that person.

Ask him for a scan. I've had people do this and when I ask for a scan, I never hear from them again. You will also now have your scan of the undamaged card AND his scan with the supposed damage to compare and use in your defence if it is escalated.

Out of curiosity, what is the feedback of the individual. I tend to have issues with those under 10. Also, Canada Post has sucked lately, "lost" two packages worth over $300 combined.

Just wondering if you have the ebay id of both these people and if you shipped tracking

And what is the ebay id for the OP? Clearly buyers remorse

Definitely buyer's remorse. I had a similar situation happen recently. Buyer says his McDavid OPC Rainbow was damaged (top loader as well) so I said it had to have been done in transit since the picture clearly showed no damage. I asked for pictures and he never sent them. He has opened a case with eBay and I've told them the same thing. I need pictures that show the damage not only to the card but also the top loader as well as the bubble mailer. I'll bet eBay sides with him though since they always lean towards the buyer

I ask for a scan of the front and back along with a scan of the bubble envelope. Most often I never hear back. These guys usually end up on my block list.

HI there,

There is a ding hole in the back side of the package that I didn't notice when I opened it.

Now because you declared the value of the item on the shipment, border dinged me $82 CAD for import duties.
I didn't know that would happen.
It's unfortunate they won't do anything about the card, that is why I am a bigger fan of the hard plastic magnetic card cases and not the sleeve ones.
This card is pretty much useless to me. The damage is in the top left corner. I will have pics shortly...

Used ID is baz_canada. I packaged the card in a top loader, taped the top closed, and sandwiched between two thick decoy cards. If the card was damaged during shipping, it would have destroyed the decoys and it would have been very noticeable. He waited 20 days after signing for the package to contact me. My fear is that he's going to damage the card himself to show PayPal that is how he received it. I think I'm just totally screwed here.

Buyer's remorse for sure.

Declaring the value on a package over a certain amount is needed for insurance purposes incase it get's lost in transaction. That $82 or whatever he paid on duties is his fault. If he bought this card from just about any business it would have been treated the same. A lot of people who have an eBay account run it as a business.

Get him to (finally) send scans so you have scans of before and after.

You currently have a dialogue with the Buyer so eBay can take all of those accounts into consideration when making a final decision.

Someone recently opened a Credit Card chargeback against me on PayPal. I won the case. The buyer claimed that the charge was unauthorized. Since it was proven that he bought something from my on eBay that it was obviously authorized.

So you have a very good chance at winning through either PayPal or eBay which-ever route he chooses to go.

Good-luck and keep us posted.

I would ask for a scan of the front and back of the bubble mailer as well. I don't know about anyone else, but I normally don't hold on to used bubble mailers for 3 weeks once I receive them.

good luck.

Buyers remorse for sure. The import fees didnt help him with that either.

I hope you dont get screwed around by this.
If he does send back the card, record you opening up the package. People have been screwed over when taking back things. They ship back whatever they want, but because the seller signed for it they consider it as returned and refund the buyer.
I have read that when they video record themselves opening it, it helps if you have to file a case with paypal/ebay about it.

Since he said he has the envelope, ask him for pictures of the back of the card, as well as pictures of the envelope (front and back), as well as the decoys that were with it, and the top loader as well.
After having the card for almost 3 weeks and not saying anything makes the whole thing fishy.

The scans are a good start. As I said, phone eBay and PayPal and get them onside.

In regards to the seller: He's got 275 feedback with plenty of cross-border purchases. His line about Customs charges is at best disingenuous, and more likely a bald-faced lie.

Buyer's remorse. Talk to eBay, they'll likely help you shut this silliness down.
