need some help on purchase...

hey i have alomost 160$ paypal availble to spend... im looking to buy a card which value is going to gain soon... i was thinking maybe a seguin fwa patch or crosby limited patch auto or a nice crosby auto or bobby orr auto.. the only problem is that i would like the crosby limited patch but may be a little over my budget and plus who knows how he will be when he makes his return after his concussion... does any body have any good segestions about what i should buy if you dont like anything i named? or is there any card i should try to get?

what do you guys think of a stamkos fwa?
and should i not get the crosby limited patch auto?
and is a gretzky auto from this years spa would be a good choice?
eberle fwa patch?

You never know what is "going to gain soon". Too many factors weigh in on that. If a player scores 50 goals, odds are his cards go up in value. If he breaks his leg and out for his career, his cards tank like a lead balloon.

Guys who don't are usually Hall of Famers who already had great careers...ie: Orr, Gretzky, Howe, Rocket Richard, etc.

So get something YOU LIKE...not what is going to give you the big $$ increase in the future, because nothing is guaranteed to do that.

Really no room for any significant growth on anything you listed other than Seguin and even that is doubtful since the market is already spiking.

Ovy or Malkin might be a decent choice if you like risk (Malkin). Both are probably a little lower on collectors list right now due to what most consider disappointing seasons. Great time to buy as they will likely rebound again.

Look at the FA list for next season, is there any young players that might make a big splash in a big market....Shea Weber for example. Likely going to get moved due to Cap restrictions and might land in a hot bed like Montreal. Kadri is another kid with Tons of potential but cooled off drastically. If he makes the Leafs next year and does well he will likely see big price increase. Crosby stuff may have softened but the only stuff worth buying to take a chance on are all rookies and likely out of your range mentioned.

Might also be a decent time to invest in Dwight Howard in basketball. A disappointing playoffs and rumors that he will be moved to the Lakers....be market, big player.

if you want to make money off that $160 don't put it anywhere near a hockey card. very low chance you will make anything and even if you did on an amount like that it wouldnt be significant at all. use the money to buy something you want or just save it.

I also believe now is the worst time to be buying Seguin. One of the rules I always go by when "investing" in hockey cards- Is to never overvalue playoff performances. Everyone gets crazy about certain players come playoff time, but next season the values go down dramatically.

When I am looking to flip for profit, I normally look for poorly listed auctions, US only auctions, Rare unique patches, and Jersey #'d parallels. Other wise it is pretty much a crap shoot trying to find that star player that becomes a superstar.

if he goes cold next season like he did the previous 45 games, then yeah it will plummet. if he can become consistent again, then it will EASILY sky rocket.

I may be in the minority but I would go for a Stamkos fwa before a Crosby auto. A Crosby auto nowadays won't appreciate too much given the large amount of product. Just think about how many Crosby auto'd cards have come out over the last 6 years; the market's flooded!

But my personal pick would be Eberle! Most of his decent RC's (except for Crown & Ice) can easily be grabbed for under $100 now. If it weren't for his injury he definitely would have been right up there for the RC scoring lead. Now would be a good time to jump on this bandwagon before next season hits.

hey ya i was thinking of picking up an eberle rookie and ya if he didnt get injured he for sure would have been a candidate for the rookie of the year... what do you think of a gretzky auto or a crosby limited patch...
