need some local help

Hey everyone,

I am close to completing a transaction for a huge lot of PC cards but need a little help. The collector is looking to get paid via paypal gift which i am not too comfortable with. But he is also willing to give them in person but i am a little too far away

My question going out to everyone is... is there anyone close or in the london area that would be willing to help menout and pick up the cards? I would cover gas money and shipping to get them to me, as i want to make sure the cards are in safe hands after sending paypal gift.

Any help would be appreciated

Rather than pay extra for gas $ why not send regular paypal with a few bucks extra to cover his fees? Or is the seller dead set on gift no matter what?

If fees are his concern & he refuses a few extra bucks to cover those fees I'd be concerned. I can understand they might be nervous of a chargeback if the amount is high but in reality you aren't just sending him cash. You're buying something & payment really should be for goods.

If you havent sent them a gift before I believe you will have to pay the fees. Last time I sent a gift I had to pay the fee.

there aren't any fees if you're sending within your country, to another country you can pay the fees yourself or check/uncheck the box and let the other guy handle it

The fees are an obvious problem for some.... "I want $300 for my lot, but with fees I won't get $300".

Demanding a gift payment to avoid fees is only a half truth. It's not that the fees go away, it's that the sender pays them. Figure out what the fees are worth, and send enough extra money to cover it. Problem solved.

FYI you can still file a chargeback if you send a paypal gift if the payment was processed thru a credit card. It will be filed thru your CC though

I echo the sentiments of others here. Pay the extra 3% to him which covers the fees and have him ship them to you. This way you're covered. What if you have someone pick up the cards and then ship them to you only to have the package be damaged along the way? Much easier for you to file a PP claim than deal with Canada Post

Thanks all tor the feedback it is very much appreciated. If the sale was done here on HI it would make things a lot easier but unfortunitly he is not a member on any trading sites. I messaged him to what options he can provide and keep everyone posted

I have to agree with others it would make me nervous if he won't accept the extra to cover fees. However if the cards are picked up or dropped of with hawkeenut then it shouldn't be a problem.
