So I listed a card on ebay a couple weeks ago. I had it up for a couple days on a BIN or best offer option. After about 4 or 5 days it had a couple of offers on it. This one guy told me that he was a really big fan of him and offered me $100 at that point I told him I want a couple my days to see who else offers me. Then the next day he retracts his bid saying that he could not get in contact with me even though we talked. Then the day after that he comes back with a offer of $80 as soon as he did I messaged him and asked why he retracted his bid, He said that he did some research and found out that this players cards do not sell for very much. (I knew this when I put it up on ebay but it was a 1 of 1 so I took a shot at it) He insisted that I sell it to him so when I got an offer on the card for more then he offered I thought about accepting it but then I knew this guy really wanted so I thought why don't I give me a deal on it if he collects the guy right. I like when people do this for me so just passing on the favor. So I counter offered him Back to 100 and told him what was going. Positve feedback was left and so on. Skip to today I search 1 of 1 on ebay and what pops up for a BIN or Best Offer. But the card that I sold him for $300 With my Picutre that i took of it. This wouldn't really bother me but I gave him a deal on it becuase the **** said that he collected him and doesn't was just trying to make a buck.. Next time I will just take the offer that is the highest guess. Unless I know them from this site.

Not trying to make a big agreement or anything just need to get this off my chest

Yikes! I would've had warning signs go off after his initial retraction. Sorry to hear that it wasn't a positive experience for you. I guess the persuasive power of $$$ was too much for the buyer to say no to to turning a profit on your good gesture.

To me, it would've gone off after his claim that "he did some research on the player". If you collect a guy, you have a pretty good idea what his stuff goes for.

Here's the thing, though: if he lists it at that price and it doesn't sell, he still has to pay eBay fees. Plus, now we all know that he's a tool.

don't do anything different. i admire you for going above and beyond and trying to help someone out but don't let one jerk stop you from being nice and making the hobby better. i can tell you i definitely appreciate it when people consider me over others (and with higher offers as well) because they see i'm a big lundqvist collector. i also try to pay it forward when i can.

I completely agree the guy is a jerk. I do hate to see that another collector down the road may not get some love on a deal due to this jerk. Maybe next time during communications ask if he has a photobucket of his collection or ask how many of the players cards he has.

Everyone pile on the $80 offers...if anything, it'll just annoy his ***.

100% HORRIBLE IDEA unless your looking to get hit with ban hammer!!

I had a similiar thing happen on this site. Person said they were doing a unique patch set. I gave them a smoking deal and I even drove across the city and hand delivered it. A few days later the card was up on E-bay and sold for double what I had sold it for.

Just an update

Smythfan I should have just kept it and gave it to you it was a 1 of 1 UD Black Pride of a Nation. Never knew of you until like 2 days after I sold it or you would have been the first person I contacted when I pulled it.

I have already reported him to ebay one of the first things about the image. Waiting to hear back from him.

I think all of us knows what happens when you do this

You know what, forget about the other guy!! Just wanted to commend you on reminding all of us that this hobby is more then just $$$ for some of us.. Good on you.. I am a big believer in Karma and I am sure that you will be repaid your kindness and this buyer will also be re-paid what is owed him..
