Never get involved in a land war in Asia. Never go in against a Barracuda, when Whalers are on the line!

I have fallen victim to one of the classic blunders.

When it comes to Whaler collecting (and showing), there can be only one

I would have better luck in a land war in Asia then competing against Glenn in a battle of Whalers Show & Tells.

It's been a long 6 months since I've shown anything so let The Emerald (& Ruby & Sapphir and Gold) Monorail of Contentment leave the station.

Lots of gems in this extended Show and Tell

Hurricanes (Misc.):

These cards would be from case breaks and card market pickups and don't fall under any particular player PC just Hurricanes in general

These next Cane cards are from local friend and collector Harry who was cleaning up his collection and found these for me. Thanks again!

Quick detour to an old dormant PC that I decided to revive, Mr Ironman Steve Larmer

Enough Ruby Red for awhile, lets get into another old PC. I've decided to go back and pick up Geoff Sanderson cards to fill in some gaps

Sanderson:

Those Gold Electric Ice are tough, amirite Glenn?!

Have the reg this is the Gold 25, big add

Those discs are a bit of a pain, storing etc. White, Silver and Gold, 2 versions of each. But gotta katch em all, wait that's something entirely different

I really like the early 2000s Topps Red Borders but I'm an even bigger fan of the Blues, which you will see later

Why are some Panini stickers harder to find than others? I dunno but here's 3 I needed

Switching to more current PCs, it's time for some

Sean Burke

Getting a Whaler issue Burke for me are few and far between. The Middle card is the Special Artist Proof (thicker than regular) and the very hard to find Dealer's Choice AP - both were redemptions back in the day.

Relatively low numbered mem card at a relatively low price, yes please!

Next PC member, the other Whaler goalie

Mike Liut

Mike is probably my most complete PC, percentage wise.

To find anything now is so challenging, but here are 3 pickups from the past 6 months.

2019 Liut Blues Heroes Cards Queen D by Ironman Indy, on Flickr

These are neat little playing cards, had the Larmer from Blackhawks for a while, took a while before I saw a Blues set

2015 Liut Trilogy Plate C F by Ironman Indy, on Flickr

I am, like Glenn, not a 1/1 collector per se.

This plate came up and I actually don't have any PC plates and it was a steal so why not?

What's better than a 1/1 plate to round out the Top 3?

1989 Liut Kodak Capitals F by Ironman Indy, on Flickr

This freaking Kodak card! I have been searching for years and haven't even seen a picture of one. Do they even exist...... yes they do, at least one does and it's mine (insert maniacal laughter)

I'm going to end off with my biggest PC but sometimes neglected

Ron Francis

I have well over 1100 different Francis cards but there were a lot more from the 90s and 2000s I just never picked up. I only really collect Whaler issues post retirement but from 1981-2004 I really wanted everything

I have been very fortunate to find and add a lot of Ronnie Franchise to the fold the past half year

That's the Special AP same as Burke above, from same ebayer. He had a bunch. I had the Exchange cards but for some reason never had the Predictor with the rules on the back

This is the Player's Club version which only show up once in a blue moon.

Only needed the Francis from the Promo hole punched set but the ebay seller had the full set. I had to buy the whole set but for a low price no biggie

Out of 100 and much desired set, so glad to add this beaut

Had the single, double and triple, now like an elite figure skater i've landed the Quad!

Premiere Date /60 - tough

Couple Ronnies /100

How about some Gold?

Topps Gold Label to be precise

More gold, Diamond Gold

Silver is okay too

Silver swatch!

Does your wife like photography? Nudge, nudge wink, wink

Photo Proof version

My favourite colour is blue, surprisingly not green.

My favourite blue borders are from the early 2000s OPC/Topps/Premier

Just a basic insert but the colours pop and card looks so good in person

Not my favourite (artist's impressions) but tough parallel

Some more modernish Francis - post retirement - non Whalers are not a priority but will pick up if price is right

I go to our weekly card market and was speaking with one of the vendors, mentioned I collect Francis and sit at 1100 +. Th enext time I saw him he had this for me

2002 Francis Pacific Draft Embossed

He was at the 2002 Draft and you could bring cards up to Panini and they would emboss them. No idea on how many of this card were actually done but I bet it's very low. I had never heard of or seen these before. A very nice gesture for him to give this to me as a big time Francis collector.

Some current issues

Francis as an Executive on a card? First one I'm sure and this is the nicest 2 colour swatch I've seen

The SPx was comps on Maverick Andrew (need the blue and gold versions) and the BD is so bright green! Pink/Purple version on the way as well

Winding down this lengthy post there have been a few cards I have either sold on ebay that in retrospect maybe I shouldn't (family and things going on the past 2 or 3 years) and also I helped out my Big Barracuda Brother Glenn try to achieve Whaler completion (no regrets). I was happy to help

I have picked up a few smaller issues and there are some I may never track down, that's fine.

One card I saw pop up and I had to have it as it features my 2 favourite players and another former Whaler you may have heard of

i almost never got this card!

It was mailed to ebay shipping center but they sent it to the wong buyer/random ebayer.!!

Seller contacts me to let me know, talking refund etc. but the person that received it wanted to do the right thing and forwarded it on to me. Seller gave me a shipping discount gave my addy to guy in Nova Scotia (basically next door LOL) and he contacted me thru FB to make sure I was the rightful owner and bam 2 months later it's back in my arms again

Great pieces too. Oh Canada!! What a country

Thanks everyone for dropping by...WAKE UP!!!

okay go back to what you were doing

Cheers
