Phew, long time, no update.

Picked up a few nice items since my last update and landed a pretty sweet PC item at a great price.

Got Angelo Esposito's first "pro" jersey, a 2007 Penguins rookie camp gamer.

As awesome as it was to pick up this item, I have some reservations about it.

Even though it comes with full Penguins documentation (jersey tagging and team letter) stating it's game used, according to my homework on this shirt, he never played a game in that particular rookie tournament.

So really, my questions are as follows.

1) Anyone else wanna do some quick research to attempt to confirm/deny my suspicions?

2) If and when it's confirmed, do you think thats grounds to bring the shirt to the attention of Joe Toman, the guy who markets and sells Pens shirts? I mean, I bought it assuming it's been used, especially considering it has the paperwork to "back that up". If it hasn't been used, I wouldn't have paid what I paid. It's essentially 'false advertising', is it not?

Either way, I'm pleased to have a Pens shirt of his. I now have a Remparts shirt, Montreal Juniors shirt and a Pens shirt and am talks with the Chicago Wolves to get one of their shirts too.

So if you guys could have a quick look to help a brother out, that would be appreciated.

Comments and questions are welcomed and encouraged.

Cheers.

Did you actually buy it from Joe? If so, I think talking him is the thing to do. I honestly don't think he would try to screw someone over. He has WAY to much on the line. I'm sure if he was unable to answer your questions, he would refund you.

If you didn't buy it through him, I don't know what to tell you. Everything about it could be fake. I doubt there would be anything Joe could do, unless he specifically remembers that jersey and issuing the LOA.

Edit - - OK, so I did a bit of snooping, not lots, but a bit. As far as I can see, he missed camp with a strained groin. I'll assume you won this at classic auctions. I would think you could go back on them, as they are a reputable auction house, and they don't want to be selling a bogus jersey. Let them go after someone else. I'm sure they must have a personal relationship with Joe by now. It does sound like it was issued by Joe though. I'm pretty sure I heard he signs all the fight straps himself.

Also...Angelo is not related to former NHL'er Tony Esposito like it says in the auction :)

Having said all that...I think you'd be hardpressed to find a "non gamer authentic" jersey like that for the price you paid. It's still a decent jersey...just not game worn. I know that's not the point, but it's something to think about :)
