New US Customs Form Rules??

Strange, I took a bunch of mailers to the PO yesterday with my customs forms already filled out and the guy didn't have to do anything different than he normally does. Maybe he didn't know or was just saving it to enter later?

Yup, went again today and they were saving them to enter all the info later so I didn't hold up the line.

Saving it and entering it later would be the smart thing to do. Half the time I get to the post office when it opens real early, or around the noon hour and and both of those times can be very hectic.

Agreed-Most of the times I can get to the post office during the week are too busy. I'll have to explore this online option or hope that they decide to just enter the info later. How does the online thing work?

here is a link for all who have never used the USPS online customs forms before:

http://webapps.usps.com/customsforms/sender_recipient.jsp

or, you could download the Click N Ship program for your computer. it's pretty nice, i haven't been able to use mine lately since the updates are giving my computer hell. everytime an update comes up, i try and download it, but it gives me an "E:/invalid drive" message or something of the sort. you can download it from the USPS site if interested.

but i have found that the page i linked above works rather well- at my PO, they weigh it, ask for the value, and then scan the barcode that is printed on the form.

Am i seeing a potential for a small start-up business? Border smuggling? Customs avoidance?

Driving cards across the border..."I'm going to see a friend, overnight stay, two days...just some sports cards and an overnight bag...thank you, have a nice day, too, Mr. Border Patrol Person!"
