Back for another year.

NHL Playoff Hockey Draft

Division: Hobby Insider
Password: hi

Some Background:

Have been doing this for years (10 Actually  ), only the third time I've setup a HI division though. It's pretty much just your basic pick players from a group draft but I've divided the groups into top seed team players and bottom seed players. Each group contains players from two east teams, and two west teams, with one team having two players. Besides the groups you also get to take a stab at naming the Cup finalists.

Some Notes:

Did a complete rewrite of everything 2 years ago with the hopes of making this easy to run each year. Not quite there yet but unlike last year I can now link up the previous 2 years standings!

2006 HI Results
2007 HI Results

Also if anyone comes across any errors (like players names spelt wrong) please let me know. I do know about the year being wrong for the past standings. Still haven't gotten around to writing a proper archive script.

Sign Up info:

Sign Up is open until all teams have played 1 game.
You need to register to be able to sign up a team (requires a username, email and password) If you registered last year but have forgotten your info there is a password reset by username or email.
There is a two entry maximum for all users. (But I'll only award prizes to one team if you happen to finish 1 2.)

Prizes:

1st Place
Patch Auto RC plus an assortment of normal RCs and jersey cards and 1 auto card.

2nd Place
Jersey Auto RC plus a smaller assortment of RCs and 1 jersey card.

3rd place (to be awarded if 15 or more people sign up)
Jersey RC plus a smaller assortment of RCs.

I'll admit my prize pool isn't the greatest so anyone else wishing to offer a prize for the winner is free to do so.

Nice finalists, they look very familiar. 2 seasons ago I picked with heart rather than head and ended up winning the thing by a mile when Edmonton met Carolina in the final. Of course that was with my non-HI division team.

But picking the same finalists me reminds me: I use number of games won by your Cup picks as the first tiebreak. After that is goals for.

Signed Up Already Ty Very Much And Ill Add A Jersey,or Something

Thx For Running Contest

I noticed you did not select the HI division. The way the sign up is set up isn't the greatest as this happens most years. Anyway I've moved you into the HI division.

If anyone else signs up but does not end up in the HI division let me know and I'll move you there.

I am in First time in this type of pool should be fum..

Shoot me an address and Ill add a few prizes as well.

Thanks for putting it together. Chad

Thanks for the contest again Noel , and for last year's, haha. I'm back again for another mid-table scrap :)

When does it update the stats?

As soon as I close the sign up. Which I just did.

The First days games had Myself and fuel77 tied for the lead with 10 points. Standings as of Day 2 can be seen here:

HI Standings

Some Draft Notes
32 teams from HI. Not bad. In fact I'm going to throw more things into the prize pool, just haven't decided what yet.

Unseen Stats
Most picked player Top Seeds - Henrik Zetterberg, Ryan Getzlaf (52.5%)
Most picked player Bottom Seeds - Dion Phanuef (72.5%)

Most Picked East Team - Pittsburgh (35%)
Most Picked West Team - San Jose (42.5%)

No one has Pavol Demitra, and no one picked Nashville.

Most evenly picked group is:
Brian Gionta, Tomas Holmstrom, Tomas Plekanec, Mikko Koivu, Jamie Langenbrunner

One More Thing
In the standings if you hover over the team name, the user name of the team should appear. This helps for people with different team and user names.

I'm in too. Thanks for the pool. I can throw something in too if someone sends me an addy of who to send to.
At the end of the draft anyone who wants to send something to the winner(s) can. It seems like a waste of postage to send everything to me first.
