Volchenkov to the Devils

And only 4.25 per year over 6 years with a NTC. Im thinking he could have gotten a tad more if he waited a tad longer. I know current talks have Staal and Girardi getting close to 4 per year from the Rangers, I would have tabbed Volch at at least 4.5 - 5 per.

6 years with a NTC AND over 5 mill a year??? Highly unlikely. Although I loved him in Ottawa, the guy is starting to become an injury factor. In the last few years he's missed time. It's only natural since he blocks a ton of shots and hits everything that moves. He can't move the puck though so when you have him out there for 20+ minutes a night, offense takes a hit. I'm glad Murray didn't cave and pay him this kinda money, especially for 6 freaking years!

John Scott to Chicago - 2 years undisclosed $$ according to the Hawks, 1 year at $1 million according to NHL Salaries.

Finally some size, grit, and willingness to drop the gloves for the Hawks, will be a hice fit.

I called it - a third liner type who could chip in the odd goal. and that occasion happens once yearly, just like a birthday.

Kulemin re signs with the Leaf's for 2 years at 2.35 per million per year. Guess that means he's staying put. Good move by the Leaf's!

Islanders Agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with goaltender Nathan Lawson; agreed to terms with defensemen Mark Eaton and Milan Jurcina and forwards P.A. Parenteau and Zenon Konopka

With the addition of Konopka the Islanders will be in the box a little more often...

The Oil signed back MacIntyre today on a 1 year one-way contract. I was excited to hear that when it was announced today.

I absolutely loved having him on the ice in the 08-09 season, as he loved the opportunity and took it to his advantage as much as he possibly could...which is incredibly admiral of him. He may not be an amazing skater, but he is probably one of the toughest players I have ever seen in the new NHL.
When guys like the Boogyman and Parros refused to fight him, it just shows how valuable his toughness is valued.

I actually thought he had pretty good cardio and sprint speed from what I saw of him that season.
When old-man Quinn coached the team last year, he pretty much voiced that he didn't feel he was a fit for his coaching system, and management reluctantly sided with him and showed him the door. With that said, I think Renney and Tambellini obviously have a different opinion of him.

Now I can't wait until the 1st Battle of Alberta :)

Islanders Agreed to P.A. Parenteau .

The Rangers let one of my all time favorite Wolfpackers go? Ouch. I guess I need a new reason to see hartford games.......

Also for the Rangers (although it was a day or so ago) Boogard to replace Shelley? I guess we give up locker-room pizazz for on-ice pizazz. I would rather have both (instead of Brashear), but I cant really complain. Although I wish it were Colton Orr.....

Plus he's a class act and was well liked in the dressing room. When the Oilers picked him up on waivers, he was grateful that he was in the NHL and didn't really care what his role was. I think he said in his first stint in Edmonton, the organization treated his wife and himself really well and was one of the factors in joining the team once again. I wonder if he'll bring up the fight that he had with Vandermeer.

Also, Oilers sign Alexandre Giroux to a one way one year contract. He played for Renney at one point so he thinks he has a chance to make the Oilers. Is he the 3rd line center that we were looking for or is this a AHL signing with a outside shot of him making the team?

I was listening to Stauffer's interview today with Big Mac and the first thing he said on the mike was "Yahoooo".
Darn is that ever comforting.
His interview was one of the best I've listened to from an Oiler. He is quite excited to be an Oiler again and quote "happy as a kid on Christmas morning."

When asked what he plans to do if anyone comes after Hall, Eberle, MPS, etc....he replied in a comical tone..."Well Bob, I think we both know the answer to that question now don't we?"
Big Mac is just as cool as I remember him!
And if anyone wants a chuckle, you have to go on the tube and watch his bubbles impression...classic!

As for Giroux, definitely an AHL pickup, but who knows as there are tons of roster spots available for whoever wants it.

Great day in Oiler land :)

I didn't see this elsewhere, but,
Kyle Quincey was signed by the Avs for 6.25 Mil over two years.
Right amount of years, but too much if you ask me. He was one of the better pickups the Avs had, but teetered off near the end. Hopefully he'll be more consistant this upcoming year.

Also hoping the Avs soon sign Chris Stewart and Peter Mueller, they're priorities to me.

Flames sign Ryan Stone
Nashville re-signs Sergei Kostitsyn
Detroit re-signs Drew Miller
Atlanta re-signs Eric Boulton
Washington re-signs Boyd Gordon
Vancouver re-signs Shane O'Brien
