Word on Fan 960 radio is Backlund may be #1 center heading into the season. Who would be the remaining centers? I'm pretty sure Morrison is not ready to go, so what do you expect?

Wow.

A guy with less than 100 NHL games is potentailly the number 1 centre.

Wow.

Hopefully he does okay if that is indeed his role. Really liked his play when I went to Heat games.

The Flames centers appear to be: Backlund, Jokinen, Stajan, Morrison and until he's healthy I would presume Moss since he played some center last season.

Stajan is a fairly decent #3 center, but putting him in a number 1 role for anything longer than a game will backfire.

He could be a #2 but he really is a #3. Putting him higher is unfair to him and is creating an unfair expectation of him where he is put in a position to fail.

I think Stajan's Toronto based hype (meaning, anyone wearing a Leafs uniform that is better than bad = superstar) ruined this kid. He's a good guy and a decent player, but I don't think he'll ever be what he might have been had he started somewhere else.

Again unrealistic expectations. He was never a star or big scorer even in junior hockey. Leaf fans expected him to score more, some even wanted and thought he deserved to be capatain. He is a good player no better.

I hope Stajan can bounce back this year. Kinda feel bad for the guy that he has to suffer through the stuff that comes with an unfair Sutter contract.
