Not trying to start "one of those comments" that gets everyone riled up, but ITG game cards have taken quite the hit after the past debacle. I have a bunch that I paid $75 plus back a few years, now I end up selling them for $14-$20. At least you are on the happy side of the purchase in this case anyway. But now at least you can get some really nice cards for not too much cash. Nice addition. Congrats.
 
There just isn't much of a market for hockey sketch cards I guess. Personally I have no interest in them, and it's not because I don't respect the past or anything like that, they just aren't my thing. But if you collect them and can buy them for such great prices that's awesome. I certainly wish more of my PC cards could be had for $17 :D

I hadn't thought about that, I usually stay away from art cards myself. I just figured that between player collectors & team collectors a 1/1 Boom Boom would have cost me a little more........... oh well, I guess I'm happy :D
 
Love dem art cards, real nice pickup! Who needs to buy McFoofoo ARP's for thousands when you can pickup a Boom Boom like that for the price of what, 3 of my fancy gingerbread lattes?

I only wish there were more art-based sets out there - the only set I regret not chasing was the History of Hockey art cards, if Leaf would carry the baton and make another set like that I'd be all over it!

This.

It has nothing to do with a lack of respect for the past, more the fact that there is just little to no demand for sketch cards. Add in the fact that it is ITG (which as alluded to in other posts have taken a massive hit in value), it's slabbed, it's lacking color or any such thing to make it pop, and it is unlicenced. And lastly, it has very little connection to the player himself (ie, no game worn piece or auto'd)

It is great that you got it for such a reasonable price in relation to other 1/1's, but not surprising in the least, and certainly about where I would expect it to sell. Regardless, congrats on the pickup.

Take up the chase. I guarantee that you wouldn't be disappointed the the "1/1" Art Card set. Some of the art on the printed art cards are pretty darn nice as well!
 
As you look at the "Show your best card" threads, they have very little, if any, ITG Ultimate. These are great cards, but get hardly any love in today's market or collectors. The sets are huge and very short printed making them very difficult and potentially very expensive to create for set collectors. PC collectors should have already raided these series for their picks and when a card like this comes up, it is who is looking for it then, like most other cards in any collection.

This is a great pick for any collector, horrible sale for the seller. If it goes into your PC and sits until forgotten it would still be worth whatever you value it at, which for any collector...is more than they paid for it.

As for respect, there is plenty of it, but timing is more important when it comes to sales on the open market to see the "respect" reflected in how much one pays.
 
Everything now needs an auto or give piece on it. Great card at a fantastic price, congrats on getting a really cool card at such a great price.
 
Great pickup! I have the Richter in my PC.

To me, the problem is a simple supply and demand issue. With the amount of cards available on the market cards like these get completely lost in the mix. This card would have needed a couple hardcore Boom Boom player collectors to sell for more money. Not many people chasing 1/1 parallel sets, and with all of the other factors mentioned above (No auto, No memorabilia, Slabbed, Sketch, ITG) you are simply narrowing down the amount of people who are interested in the card.

I have a similar Henri Richard 2007-08 Onyx 1/1 ITG Ultimate parallel in my Ebay store right now. I think I paid $20 CDN for it at a show. I have had it up on Ebay for months at $69.99 OBO. It literally has 4 views. Zero offers or questions about it. Brutal!
