(Right I typed slowly so I didn't spell announced wrong again. lol)

Nicklas Lidstrom
Zdeno Chara

and

MIKE GREEN! :D :stanley:

As much as Chara deserves this trophy, he should be a lock for it.

I think Green will get it because of what he has done with the puck. The league wants their youth showing off new hardware, even though chara was by far the most well rounded at the position this year (which is what the trophy is supposed to be for).

don't the voters usually like going for the old reliables when these awards are given out?

It took Lidstrom a long time before he won his first, and yeah, there does seem to be some truth in the statement, but the fact that Chara and Green are in the top three vote getters suggests it may be time for a change.

PErsonally, I think Chara gets it, Green close behind and Lidstrom third.

I'd love to see Nick win another but I would be shocked if Green didn't get it. That 30 goal thing is a shocker no matter how he got them. I would put Lidstrom a close second though as he will still garner several votes more on reputation than anything.

Lidstrom
GP G A Pt +/- PIM Avg. Time On Ice
78 16 43 59 31 30 24:49

Green
GP G A Pt +/- PIM
68 31 42 73 24 68 25:45

Chara
GP G A Pt +/- PIM
80 19 31 50 23 95 26:04

I have bolded the stats that stand out for me. Lidstrom with his 30 PIM stands out, thats only 15 minor penaties all year and he was had the best +/-. Green obviously had a great offensive year and Chara was a stud playing in 80 games and averaging over 26 min per game. It comes down to which the voters will value the most. Personally I give it to Lidstrom again, but I am biased a little.

I agree. It should reward Defensive play, not offensive play. Lidstrom should win it hands down.

What, no Andrei Markov? No best defenseman in the game? Well in that case, I guess I'd give it to Chara for how instrumental he is to Boston's PP and his ability to shut down with his reach, overall play, and ability to hand out hits. Green probably will win though, since his offensive #'s are ridiculius.

First time since.. I can't remember when.. I can honestly say somebodyelse then Lidstrom deserves Norris the most. This one is for me as obvious as the Calder
