Another month in the books. Pretty good one for the collection. Also finally updated all my bookkeeping to know where my collection stands instead of just running on memory. Picked up a lot of set needs and random Avs parallels that aren't being shown here because you'd all go crazy scrolling through them. Always willing to trade for stuff like that though, even if I don't show them off in these threads.

One for the Cole Garner collection. Take a wild guess why I collect him. Middle name is Cole, born like 10 days from me, debuted with the Rockies. If you didn't know, Cole is my middle name too. Then the old Helton/Walker collection. I don't feel bad showing them on here since Larry is one of the best Canadian baseball players ever.

This is probably my favorite set ever, so I still pick up cards when I can find them cheap. I guess $0.99 a pop qualifies. Another great thing here, these are actually game-used. Not photoshoot, not make-pretend GU, real.

Went crazy on the Red and Blue sets a few years back and pretty much hammered them out in a couple months. But I've been working on the Beiges ever since. And here's my favorite, especially since it's for one of my PC players. Already had one in the PC, so this one is for the Avs collection. The original Blanks with the yellow backs will always be the best. This gets me to 18/26 for that year, with a McLeod and Foote in different collections, so kinda 20/26 if I wasn't so OCD... :laugh:

She remembered me asking her about it from like 4 years ago or something and messaged me when it hit eBay. This is only the second she'd ever seen, the first being hers. The Forsberg came from an old friend at a local show, where it's rare to find something other than set needs.

I completely overpaid on the Foote, but I was tired of seeing it sit on the Beckett Marketplace and the seller wouldn't give me a deal. So here it is.

2011-12 ITG Enforcers Instigators Red /10 Cody McCormick
Last of the PC pickups, this one came from golgo13. He pulled it forever ago and we finally came to a deal. Nice to finally make some progress on the Cody Mac stuff again. He had one of the longest layoffs from products, not being included in anything since his RC year of 03-04. Then he made OPC and Enforcers. I'm sure there's longer breaks, but not many.
Okay, now the real fun stuff. Avalanche (and other local teams... stupid lockout) Rookie collections:

Here's a few for the Cutthroats collection. AKA the old LA King boys club... Derek Armstrong coaching, Kyle Quincey and Brad Smyth playing. Just need the Blues and Gold to finish it off, since the even I'm not crazy enough to try and chase down the Quincey cards again after finding them all for my Avs collection.

More good looking cards in my opinion. Base and Sapphire from Frank (frankiefives). Haven't seen the /25 or /5 yet, but I'm looking. Gotta love an Avs player that wears #18, although it does seem to be cursed. Nobody's rocked it for more than like a year since Deader.

Been noticing that lately on rare parallels of Barrie, Elliott, Malone, etc. I think I need to go break some thumbs, I used to walk all over the parallels.

I wasn't a huge fan of Dominion last year, but I like it better than the Cup this year. Great looking cards. I wish there were some 4-color Golds somewhere though. Seen a bunch of them, but they're all 1 or 2 colors.

Malone didn't get any Cup cards, so happy to have nailed down all of these right off the bat. Two of the Emeralds actually surfaced already. Again, Elliott and Landy were redemptions, so this is the best I can do.

The Cup RC came from No No No..... The other Steve, but it's actually my least favorite of these. Sorry Steve. The OPC Premier is huge because it's my first ever card for this particular parallel. I didn't have any other players in the set. And the High Gloss, well that's self-explanatory. Plus it came from Russia. Was a little worried, but saw some stuff from Quincy about having good luck buying some stuff from there, so I risked it. Took awhile, but it came; in a bubble mailer inside a bag, I kid you not, tied off in a bow with twine. I felt like I went back in time.

Grabbed this one for what I consider a really solid price. It's /10, it's auto'd, and it's Landy. Similar cards of his sell for much more, so even though I usually take my time picking up the pricy stuff, here she is.

1997-98 Score Team Set Avalanche Premiere Club - Valeri Kamensky, Sylvain Lefebvre & Rene Corbet
Did I mention that I'm madly in love with these cards? A guy recently listed a bunch of these on eBay from all the teams. With 5 of them, I didn't really feel like dropping $10 a pop on them. After exchanging a couple emails, I learned he was only 5 cards from the Platinum Avs set, 3 of which I happened to have. We were able to work out a trade/sale. Then Rob (Kurri17) notified me of a Kurri that he was able to win for $0.99, so now he only needs one more.
1997-98 Score Team Set Avalanche Premiere Club - Adam Foote & Yves Sarault
The Foote is my second copy, the first I actually pulled myself is in my PC of him. Sarault is kinda cool too, since he never actually earned a true RC card, but still has these. I was only at 4/20 on this set, but this quantum jump gets me to 9/20. Spoiler alert... I'll be halfway there next month. Looking back, I would have totally paid $10 each for these. I seriously couldn't have lived without them.

Yep, that's right. The Platinum made it further into the stars than the Premieres, even at 5 times more common. Mostly because it completes my set. I've been at 19/20 on this set for a few years after cracking a couple boxes over the years. Never seen a Krupp until this one. Surprise surprise, it came from the same guy as the ones above. Hit the BIN on this so hard I almost broke my mouse. :laugh:

Got a PM from Chance (Dohboi), asking for my birthday and address. He didn't tell me what he was sending, but I had a pretty good feeling about it. Said he found me on the boards after he acquired this and knew I should have it.
Well my birthday isn't for another month, but he sent it anyway. I about dropped it when I opened it. One of the nicest gestures ever on these boards.
2011-12 ITG Enforcers Tough Nameplates #TN-158 1/1 Cody McCormick
This is now my second card from this nameplate, going with the last "C" that I grabbed shortly after release. I was pretty frustrated that I couldn't find another letter out of a NINE letter name. Come on! So I'm good an re-energized to look for these. Especially with the Expo coming up. I might not make it, but please keep an eye out if you're there. There's got to be at least one more floating around somewhere.
Also, a little confused why this card is so straight in the window. It's numbered TN-158, suggesting it's the 1st letter of the name according to the checklist. At least with the other I have (TN-165) the "C" is sloping downward like it would be at the end of the name. I'd guess this was more like the second M in the name from the shape. Anyway, whatever, it's still freaking awesome.
Thanks again so much Chance. Even if it wasn't a great gift it would have been star #1. I owe you big time.

So yeah, passed the 3,000 RC mark somewhere in the last couple posts. :dance: And the next parallel to roll in will make 1500!! Only 11 true RCs to go, 10 new issues from 11-12 (6 of them redemptions) and an 09-10 Duchene Cup RC /99.
On that note, I'll leave you until next month. Hopefully with a bunch of crazy awesome pickups from the Expo. Still don't know if I'll be there in person, but either way I'm counting on you guys to be my eyes. If it's on my PC or RC wantlist, anybody on here can have free reign to spend up to $10 on it without even asking me.

Same cards, different player. Thanks to GoJetsGo9 for the easy deal on the jersey numbered Sapphire. A Black /5 just sold on eBay this morning, but there's someone out there even crazier than me. Been noticing that lately on rare parallels of Barrie, Elliott, Malone, etc. I think I need to go break some thumbs, I used to walk all over the parallels.

I wasn't a huge fan of Dominion last year, but I like it better than the Cup this year. Great looking cards. I wish there were some 4-color Golds somewhere though. Seen a bunch of them, but they're all 1 or 2 colors.

Malone didn't get any Cup cards, so happy to have nailed down all of these right off the bat. Two of the Emeralds actually surfaced already. Again, Elliott and Landy were redemptions, so this is the best I can do.

The Cup RC came from No No No..... The other Steve, but it's actually my least favorite of these. Sorry Steve. The OPC Premier is huge because it's my first ever card for this particular parallel. I didn't have any other players in the set. And the High Gloss, well that's self-explanatory. Plus it came from Russia. Was a little worried, but saw some stuff from Quincy about having good luck buying some stuff from there, so I risked it. Took awhile, but it came; in a bubble mailer inside a bag, I kid you not, tied off in a bow with twine. I felt like I went back in time.

Grabbed this one for what I consider a really solid price. It's /10, it's auto'd, and it's Landy. Similar cards of his sell for much more, so even though I usually take my time picking up the pricy stuff, here she is.

1997-98 Score Team Set Avalanche Premiere Club - Valeri Kamensky, Sylvain Lefebvre & Rene Corbet
Did I mention that I'm madly in love with these cards? A guy recently listed a bunch of these on eBay from all the teams. With 5 of them, I didn't really feel like dropping $10 a pop on them. After exchanging a couple emails, I learned he was only 5 cards from the Platinum Avs set, 3 of which I happened to have. We were able to work out a trade/sale. Then Rob (Kurri17) notified me of a Kurri that he was able to win for $0.99, so now he only needs one more.
1997-98 Score Team Set Avalanche Premiere Club - Adam Foote & Yves Sarault
The Foote is my second copy, the first I actually pulled myself is in my PC of him. Sarault is kinda cool too, since he never actually earned a true RC card, but still has these. I was only at 4/20 on this set, but this quantum jump gets me to 9/20. Spoiler alert... I'll be halfway there next month. Looking back, I would have totally paid $10 each for these. I seriously couldn't have lived without them.

1997-98 Score Team Set Avalanche Platinum Team Uwe Krupp
Yep, that's right. The Platinum made it further into the stars than the Premieres, even at 5 times more common. Mostly because it completes my set. I've been at 19/20 on this set for a few years after cracking a couple boxes over the years. Never seen a Krupp until this one. Surprise surprise, it came from the same guy as the ones above. Hit the BIN on this so hard I almost broke my mouse. :laugh:

Got a PM from Chance (Dohboi), asking for my birthday and address. He didn't tell me what he was sending, but I had a pretty good feeling about it. Said he found me on the boards after he acquired this and knew I should have it.
Well my birthday isn't for another month, but he sent it anyway. I about dropped it when I opened it. One of the nicest gestures ever on these boards.
2011-12 ITG Enforcers Tough Nameplates #TN-158 1/1 Cody McCormick
This is now my second card from this nameplate, going with the last "C" that I grabbed shortly after release. I was pretty frustrated that I couldn't find another letter out of a NINE letter name. Come on! So I'm good an re-energized to look for these. Especially with the Expo coming up. I might not make it, but please keep an eye out if you're there. There's got to be at least one more floating around somewhere.
Also, a little confused why this card is so straight in the window. It's numbered TN-158, suggesting it's the 1st letter of the name according to the checklist. At least with the other I have (TN-165) the "C" is sloping downward like it would be at the end of the name. I'd guess this was more like the second M in the name from the shape. Anyway, whatever, it's still freaking awesome.
Thanks again so much Chance. Even if it wasn't a great gift it would have been star #1. I owe you big time.

So yeah, passed the 3,000 RC mark somewhere in the last couple posts. :dance: And the next parallel to roll in will make 1500!! Only 11 true RCs to go, 10 new issues from 11-12 (6 of them redemptions) and an 09-10 Duchene Cup RC /99.
On that note, I'll leave you until next month. Hopefully with a bunch of crazy awesome pickups from the Expo. Still don't know if I'll be there in person, but either way I'm counting on you guys to be my eyes. If it's on my PC or RC wantlist, anybody on here can have free reign to spend up to $10 on it without even asking me.
