+/- of the expo

+
>Donated some stuff to Frank for the Toronto Hockey Show. Met him as well.
>Met some guy in a pink hat haha
>Lots of awesome lookin cards.
>Was able to convince a guy I work with to head out. He has never been.
>The hot dog vendor outside the door telling everyone "You tha best". Found it hilarious.
>No strippers in the parking lot handing out free tickets to the club they work at in the parking lot like at last years spring expo.(tickets were expired too)

-
>Lots of rude people. I dont know how many times my bum was touched or bumped into while looking at cards. It wasnt that crowded.
>Some of the prices on boxes seemed pretty high. I seen a couple people selling 90/91 UD for $40 a box. Same with the "special show price".
>ATM ran out of money, all 3 of them the first day. I wanted to get more money out to buy a box but wasnt able to. The guy said I could use interac but he would have to charge me taxes.

I was there last year and didn't see strippers outside the door, what a rip off!

You assume they were bumping in to your *** by accident.

- the HI dinner and listening to Quincy and Bruce talk.. that was fun
-pink hat
-scooby taking pictures of girls at dinner
-lots of kids
-meeting so many of your HI'ers.. LSOH, FOLEY and many others..
-the donations this year was off the hook
-saying HI to Marcel Dionne and looking like a complete idiot while doing so.:)
-meeting the donator of the PORN cards and him saying sorry.. ( This is a joke, it never happened)

(-)
- The smell was atrocious. Especially people farting while rummaging through cards our boxes.
-Someone telling me off for peddling free cards on their kids. Hmmm I don't know how that came to be but hey its a free country to speak your mind.

-Getting NO SKETCH cards in two or three indiana jones boxes HAHAHA..
-Rudeness of some dealers. Like what the hell happened to a smile.
-Balloons, and blisters on my fingers from tying the balloons up. Next year Frank can do the balloons and I will hang them.

+ dealers looking to make deals. Not all of them, but more than usual.
+ ITG's redemptions. Good God.
+ The HI booth. Always good to stop for a breather and chat with people whose usernames you know and now have faces to go with them.
+ seeing those schmenges from Fastball sitting there counting the minutes from 1pm Friday to 6pm Sunday. That show is a loss leader for them FOR SURE.
+ being able to buy from one dealer and sell to another for a profit again.
+ pepperoni guy selling pepperoni sticks. Saved me from getting mudbutt from eating Pizza Pizza.
+ dealers undercutting each other's box prices. Bad for other dealers, good for me and you.

- THE SMELL. What the hell? $1,000 cards and you can't buy some effing soap? Axe is like a shower in a can for crying out loud. "Oh, but soap agitates my skin." BULL****. That agitation is what we who shower call "CLEAN".
- Fastball is still in business? Wasted my damn time last year and got right back in my bad books. And shave that damn soul patch, you look like you're dying to play a clarinet or something (and I don't mean that nicely).
- How many Joel Schmuckheimers were there selling the same turds that they were selling back in 1995? Too many. Leave, you're no longer wanted in the hobby.
- The Toronto Card Show balloons. Guys fill those things up, dammit! I don't want to tell you what they looked like...
- Ice cream for $4? What the hell?

Fastball Steve got rid of his store about a year or so I think and I saw him at the monthly show a couple of times and he has to be the only guy that doesn't get any customers.

I saw a couple of the ITG redemptions and Blog TV and I must admit they were gorgeous to say the least!

You sure it was "people" or just Aaron? Man, he let one go when I went over to make a deal with Jeremy (Gomaz) that almost made me cry it was so foul. Then he went on to brag about it! Thankfully his booth was across the aisle and not next to mine!

LMAO.. maybe that's you don't wear a penguins jersey for 4 days straight

What happened here?

I had a blast at the show this year as always.

The positives
-Great prices on ITG boxes
-Amazing cards being pulled all around me (- was the fact I didn't win huge this time round)
-Dealers that took the time to ask if you needed help with finding anything
-Getting a new ORR stick at a great price
-Adding some great photo's to my collection
-A great time ripping my BTP case
-A great chat with the big man himself Bruce.
-A nice long chat with Dr. Price, it was a pleasure as always.
-The beautiful women that were there.

The negatives
-Dear God people...your dropping money like it's going out of style...shower
-Smug people at the show dealers and collectors alike.
-Out dated boxes of pure crap that rival the prices of new boxes of stunning product.
-Missing out on some beauty team signed Leaf sticks by 5 mins.
-I had a complete package, an emblem, and an auto threads all pulled out right beside me and I wasn't able to land one myself... ah well there is always next year.

The positives

-The beautiful women that were there.

Ya know what? While relatively few women in the house, there were more beautiful women there than usual. Once again, I think the Toronto Card Show must be doing something right and the Expo is benefiting... ;) :P

Even 3's are 9's in a room predominantly full of men. If you looked at some of those "beautiful" women in the proper context, it would have proven to be a rough day at the mall.

"You're just a three dressed up as a nine you're only...wasting my time." GREAT song...

Just couldn't get past this one without falling off the chair....good one

Overall, my 2nd best show $$wise since the 8 years I've been there....guess I must still be doing something right

A public thanks to magootz for the help once again....our little comedy act I know amuses quite a few of you!

Joe

Some stripper was walking around the parking lot last year. She was making small talk (I knew something was up cause shes smokin hot and those sorta chicks dont approach me lol). Then all of a sudden she whips out a couple cards and gives her speech about this gentlemens club and said I could use one and give one to a friend (free entry). I looked at them and they had expired 6 months prior.

Overall it was a plus.

Plus:
-Hanging around with H.I members and fellow card fanatics
-Picking up Mcfarlanes for dirt cheap (I won't $5 for Bryan McCabe but for $2 I will also Dion Phaneufs for $5!!!! OMG)
-Packs wars (enough said!)
-Seeing high end product being opened!
-Knowing that basically everything I bought I got the best price on the planet for.

Minus:
-Friday was a bust for single cards, and it didn't even pick up after 5pm, a lot of the local hardcore's took the day off work and were their once the doors opened.
-I stayed away from single cards for the most part, I fully put my if you don't price your stuff I will keep walking policy in play, I could care less what you have in their if you don't price your stuff.
-Not enough 50% off display cases, I probably had one of the better one's going, you don't have too agree with me but I know my cards were moving in my 50% off case.
-I don't think I made a trade or purchase from a single customer who came too my table. In the Fall, their was more buy and trade transactions between me and customers.

+

+ Thanks to Frank for giving my girls free hockey cards. They love coming to the show for the 'free' stuff.

- Concrete floor, AKA the grinder.
- Not bringing my camera and having a pic taken with Marcel Dionne
- Lack of Puck Attack boxes. We love that game, thanks Topps!

Overall a good show. Nice to see a theme for the autos. Maybe we can convince the Fall Show signing to be the '89 Flames Cup winning team! Please?

Cheers!
