Official "Who's going to Spring Expo?" thread

Might be making my first trip out to the expo, with my girlfriend too...

Couple questions..
What's the best hotel to stay at? Closest to the expo and airport.
If you're just going to the expo, whats cheaper taking a cab, or renting a car?

May be stupid questions, never been to Toronto :o

While it's not the closest to the Expo, it's where most of us stay - Quality Inn & Suites on Carlingview (make sure it's the Carlingview one, not the Islington or Eglinton one) - nice stumbling distance to Arizonas! It's about 5 to 7 minute cab right from the Expo and about a 4 minute cab right to/from the airport - they have a shuttle service I believe too.
 
Hi folks - I've been away from the boards and gone cold turkey with cards for a few months now, dealing with life, but am hoping to find some time to pop into the Spring Expo with the boys. Last fall my youngest picked up the Steve Mason lettermen auto patches for a great price before Mason started tearing up the league - not sure what his mission will be for this Expo yet! I'm out of touch with what's going on with new releases but I'll see if I can pick up a missing card or two to fill outstanding wants from last year.
 
We have been getting a flurry of calls from Airport area hotels asking if we attending and offering great room prices ($79)... I think you will not have any troubles finding decent prices on rooms being that they are calling folks.

Edit: Last call was on Saturday.

I wouldn't count on hotel availability. There's several conventions that run the same weekend, and hotel space is always a little tight.

People can crash at my place for the low low price of 3 Grand a night ;)

Back on topic. I'll be there but its not looking like I'll have much to spend :(
 
Money to spend is less of an issue. Come and let us put face to name - that's way more important.
 
Not in my budget this year. The flights, hotels and meals would kill my year card budget. I have never attended one but I hope to real soon. I look forward to the day when I can meet most of you face to face shake a few hands and have a few beer together.
 
Just got off the phone with another Hotel calling to sell rooms (Monday April 13/09 12:50 hrs).

Need a room - call econo lodge inn (905) 677-7335 although if you check their web-site, they should have a 1-800 number. apparently it's walking distance from the international center.

FYI - I have stayed at the Econo Lodge each time I have come up (from NJ) and it is within walking distance. Although the walk when it is raining is not so fun :)

Still shooting to come up in November
