OK, I'm pumped for this NHL 09

I'm limited to the PC version and my understanding is the 360 is next generation, so my experience might not be that much different from the past couple of years, but I've bought it every year since '04, with the exception of '05, and I'll buy '09.

Anyone else played the demo on PS3? I just love the be a pro mode where you are one player throughout the game so its not all about puck control but also about positioning and defense play and all that.

Been playing the demo for 6 hours straight. Already lighting it up with Crosby on All-Star (the hardest difficulty in the demo). Been getting A+'s across the board with hat-tricks and multiple assist games. This is kind of dissapointing because it shows off how easy the game is.
In 08, it was slap passes, top shelf wrap arounds and the boomerang. Scoring was just too easy. In 09, I've already noticed (in the be a pro mode) a small little breakout with crosby where Sykora takes it up the side and passes to Crosby in the center just across the blue. Crosby then snipes blocker side on Osgood. This works 90% of the time. Not to mention holding the puck in the offensive zone is too easy with the new 'A' button trick. I can literally spin around and skate, while waiting for someone to go where I want.
I really just hope this is because it is all-star not superstar. I also think that this won't be as big of a deal online with the be-a-player mode because of the non-AI defence.
Overall, I love the graphics, I love the split leg stops the goalies are making, and I love the little stick control upgrades, etc.
I have already pre-ordered this game and will be playing the be-a-player mode religiously online. Here's hoping for top 100 on the leader board. Josh Tilson 100GP = 198G, 210A, 408PTS. Haha.

Picked Up NHL 09 yesterday!

I only played 2 games, one online and one offline. The one online was really fun! I played with 11 other guys and each guy had a player to control. I was the right defense guy the whole game. It was funny cause it was like when the little kids play hockey, all of us where going for the puck and no one was playing positional!
There is also an option where you can import your own music for intros, goals, stoppages in play, etc. So when the Leafs come on the ice, I now have Enter Sandman playing

I've been playing be a pro mode for the last 2 hours. It's simply awesome. With be a pro, you are really getting a whole extra game included in the price. Outside of NHL 07 with the introduction of the skill stick, this is probably the biggest innovation ever in the NHL franchise. Simply awesome!!!!

Just picked up my copy this afternoon and started playing.
Definitely good. I wouldnt go as far as saying its amazing. Too be honest its pretty much the same as last years version. However, its still a tonne of fun to play!
