Ok people the joke is getting old! Every time the Leafs win a game (like tonight against the Bruins) there are immediate posts on message boards from non-Leafs fans writing "PLAN THE PARADE LOL!".

Please for the love of all things holy, stop it. THE JOKE IS OLD!!!!!!

Sorry for the rant :|:|:|:D

If you listen to some of the sack-mites who call in to radio talk shows after a Leafs win, you'll know why that joke will never die. I consider myself a realist TML fan and to hear grade 6 dropouts using big words on the FAN590 to describe how great the Leafs are makes me want to apply to city planning just so I can work out HORRIBLE parade details myself (which would include a minimum of two u-turns on Yonge St).

Hey they are ahead of Sens in the standings:) and well on pace to get that coveted 9th position in the East.

When I lived in Toronto I hated those call in shows. Some of the garbage spewed by those people almost turned me off being a Leafs fan.

Maybe once "Leafs Nation" admits that the Leafs are amoung the worst run franchise and quit going around acting like they already won the stanley cup every time they win.

Seriously some obnoxious Leafs fans exist, and most of us non Leafs fans are sick of Toronto Sports Network and CBC saying the word Toronto as every other word even if it is not a Maple Leafs game. This country is so Leafs brainwashed it is sickening. Every day its SUNDIN SUNDIN SUNDIN. And now that the guy finally retires now its SUNDIN SUNDIN SCHEN SCHEN SCHEN.

We have to suck it up 24/7, so when we talk about planning the parade route after every win they I think for a change YOU LEAFS FANS, can suck it up.

I have to say that as a European I can't understand why the Maple Leafs get so much attention. I watch TSN online videos daily, and it seems that every single time something even remotely interesting to the Mom of a fourth line AHLer happens in the Maple Leafs organisation, it gets a three-minute video report. I mean,

"Jason Blake is on the fourth line! Now he's in the press box!"
"Will Sundin return to the Leafs?"
"What will the Leafs do without Sundin?"
"Will Brian Burke sign for the Leafs?"
"Will there be a contender to the Leafs in Toronto?"
"How would a second team in Toronto affect the Leafs?"
"What are the rumours about a second team in Toronto?"
"Lucic hammered Van Ryn!"
"Will Schenn get sent down?"
"Would the panel keep Schenn with the Leafs or send him down?"
"Wilson switched goalies for the shootout!"
"Did Wilson make the right call switching goalies?"
"The Leafs have trouble scoring goals, they might make some trades!"

I mean, I'm getting sick of all the coverage they get, especially when they perform below average in the NHL. Why aren't there any reports about the Flames' struggles to keep the puck out of the net? Ovechkin's slump? Bergeron scoring his first goal in a year? What's happening with Ondrej Pavelec? Toews has no goals yet? Vanek is paying off his big contract? Philadelphia and Anaheim are at the bottom of their conferences?

The lack of balance is crazy!

Wow, bitter much?
Not all leafs fans are planning a parade route when they win. My wife would tell you when I got home form hockey last night and saw the score my reaction was " wow the leafs won". Like Triple B I would consider myself a realist when it come to the leafs and think they are going to have a less then stellar year, but just because they are the biggest market in the country and attract alot of media attention doesn't mean people need to be so bitter about it. I would also like to point out that Toronto is not the only place with rediculously biased phone in radio shows, anyone who has listened to Ottawa radio after a sens game can attest to that.

EDIT* I also think you will find the "plan the parade route" comments are sarcastic and form non-leafs fans, which to me is not the fault of Leafs Nation when it somes to 24/7 Leafs talk.

The Leafs are like the Yanks in baseball(except the yankees win more often). The fans are loyal and all other fans hate them. I have cheered for them since the 70's and have learned to ignore all the other fans. What a crime for a team to have loyal fans who support them!!! Go leafs

There are other networks out there that are not based out of TO. Of course most of those cities (esp in the US) don't even talk about hockey but hey maybe thats better:|. Get the NHL network or some of the regional hockey packages, pick your team. Its funny how fans hate on Leaf, Detroit and Ranger fans because they have a strong following and get talked about a lot.

Every team in every sport has obnoxious fans, its part of sports. I guess the stations could talk more about the Preds or Atlanta, that should be great for TV ratings.

Plenty of other radio stations to listen to and newspapers to read in the GTA.

Ah yes.. The voice of reason from the wilderness.... Good call John.

But in hindsight, wouldn't this thread be better suited to the 'I have a beef with...." forum?

Just throwing that one out.

I dig the Prime Time show on The Fan, but am almost glad I don't drive home from work anymore so that I don't have to listen to these jaded Leafs fans draw their arm-chair professional conclusions on a game-by-game basis.

As a Habs fan living in Toronto, I also follow the Leafs and even cheer for the hometeam. But if you lived in this city and talked to Leafs fans you would know that there is this pie in the sky mentality that seems to overcome them. I think the fan support is great, but so jaded at the same time. Dismantle the team and watch their greatest modern age player go on extended vacation and they still talk like they've got something going on here. I wish they'd embrace the fact that the Leafs are rebuilding. Leafs management have finally woken up. Leafs fans should watch them over the next couple of years as though they are a project; not a contender.

With all that said, I agree that hearing the parade comment is old, boring, and obnoxious. But it is simply the other side of the coin. Both sides aren't all that great.

The Leafs are jammed down our throats in Canada - CBC, TSN, Globe & Mail, etc, etc, etc... I'd rather be the recipient of a daily dose of barium sulfate.

The "Plan the Parade" bit stems from clueless Leaf fans who think that every time the team gets off to a good start in October, that the Cup is destined to be driven down Yonge Street in 8 months time. Leaf fans have by and large brought this upon themselves.

Sure, the voice of reason until someone tells an Elton John joke.:owned:

Good on you for creating a thread about that awful joke. No one is planning anything with the leafs except to schedule their golf games in the summer :owned:

Maybe if the Leafs actually did something though the rest of us could get new material. But like anything, when something has been around as long as the Leafs' mediocrity, coming up with original jokes is really hard BECAUSE EVERYBODY CAME UP WITH THEM OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST FORTY YEARS!!!!

Why we keep getting fed with Leafs talk on CBC, TSN, etc for the last 10 years is beyond me. The team has done NOTHING in this time yet they are always #1 on Sportscenter and HNIC. Most of us that are not part of Leaf nation are just sick of it, that's all.
I have no issue with Toronto radio stations talking about the Leafs, why wouldn't they? Just like the Team 1200 is all about the Sens. But please TSN and CBC, give other teams as much air time as the Leafs, if not more. After all, the Leafs suck

As long as TSN keeps talking about the Leafs and not why the Flyers suck, Im fine with it. But the Leafs are blowing their opportunity in the John Tavares sweepstakes.
