I've been following hockey Canada on eBay for two years now, mostly for world junior items however this is the first time I've seen the Olympic stuff up.

Not thinking any - Given UD's deal with Hockey Canada - it would appear access to jerseys are part of the deal.

Also with those prices and what they will likely end at - it would be absolute insanity for any company to bid on those, especially if Canada wins Gold

Even card companies rarely touch this stuff. Team Canada generates a lot of rabid fandom when these tournaments are on and fans with deep pockets, who don't necessarily know what game worn jerseys are usually worth, drive the prices up on these auctions to obscene heights.

The Hamhuis is/was over 2K last I looked - insanity, but good for him and Hockey Canada. I'll stick to getting a Canuck gamer if I want a Hammy jersey.

FWIW, my Linden Olympic jersey was much less (thankfully).

I wonder what the details are for the deal with UD and Hockey Canada is. Given how much these jerseys are going for on live auction to fans, why do they need a deal with UD? (who will most likely only offer a fraction of that price). Not to mention the rights to photos, logos, etc.

I'm guessing it's probably just part of the overall licensing deal. UD pays them a blanket amount for licensing every year and the deal includes access to some jerseys etc.

It's also much likelier that UD has a set of jerseys specially done for their cards and the players wear for a period or game and then give them back for the cards.

This is all my speculation, mind you, but I'd wager there's a set created for UD separate from what the public has since these sorts of Team Canada wares are in such low supply. You don't want to have the only set available to the public essentially going to the card companies, and I'm sure some of the players probably want to hang onto one of their jerseys as an important career memento.

At every tournament, each player keeps the last jersey that they wear - that's my understanding. Which Hockey Canada always hopes is a Gold Medal Game.
