The IceBox was lucky enough to have first crack at an amazing collection. The short summary below with give you some info:

Robert Thomas was a cameraman for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for more than 20 years. During the hockey season, he was a mainstay behind the lens for "Hockey Night In Canada".

When Mr. Thomas wasn't bringing hockey to millions across Canada, however, he was busy with his hobby -- collecting hockey autographs. His unique access to players and coaches allowed to fill binder after binder with signed cards, photos, team-issue postcards and more.

The great care taken by Mr. Thomas in building his collection shows in its quality and its quantity. There are more than 10,000 autographs ranging from the late 1960s through the late 1980s -- from Toe Blake to Brett Hull, with just about everyone in between.

The IceBox is proud to have acquired this collection and to give our customers both a chance to see these amazing pieces and purchase some of them. All autographs will come with our business card LOA with information about the origins of the piece.

This is some pretty stunning stuff -- more than 7,000 signed cards, 2,500+ signed team-issue, postcards and other oddballs, 600-700 signed 8x10s and plenty of other goodies. We'll be digging through it for some time, but we'll be adding some of the key pieces to our eBay and own web sites in the next week or two. We'll also have all of it at the Fall Expo.

As an example, here are a few scans:

Here's a link to the cards I have up so far.

And here's a link to the 8x10s I have scanned. Only another 750 to go!

There are seven Drydens (including the first 8x10 I've ever had -- already gone), 15-20 Yzermans, the same number of Lemieuxs, six or seven Bobby Orrs -- I'm not even done being close to counting and cataloging. All of the Keons, by the way, have already been sold.

Feel free to drop me a line if there are specific players you're looking for, especially guys who are tough to find. There are multiple near sets for every year in the 80s.

We are not trading on this collection at this time -- sorry!

Thanks!

That would be one great collection to go through, I can only imaging some of the players you will come across.
If you come across any Pelle Lindbergh's in your search I would be interested.

Thanks for sharing,
Jeff.

For folks who are asking for prices, I'm still trying to get a grasp on some of those things. What should a Dryden auto'd card sell for? They don't carry the same weight as a photo or a puck, but then good luck finding anything signed by him. I figure the Orrs will be in the $75-100 range for cards. Not sure on the Gretzkys yet either -- there are only a couple cards and one 8x10 which I'll use for framing.

As a reference, two George Armstrongs sold yesterday in the shop for $350 for the pair.

The real interesting stuff to me is the vast amount of Lemieuxs (with actual legible signatures from early on), Yzermans, Lafleurs, and tons and tons of multiples of HHOFers that we can do pretty cheaply.

I also have boxes with unsigned 8x10s from the 80s and 90s, Beehives, team issue sets, Russian sets and all kinds of other stuff.

Time to start digging!

That's some very nice stuff, must be an amazing collection to go through. I'd be interested in Team Sets from the early 80's Oilers if you have any of those in there.

but does it come with COA?

:D just joking.

wow that's some amazing samples right there. I wish I can see more of the collection.

I've just listed some of the 1971-72 stuff, with another 8-10 to come, including Dionne and Lafleur RCs. There are probably another 80 autographs I won't be scanning and listing, just making a list.

I'm figuring pricing on most of the players by taking what it would cost to get them to signing something now and lowering it by 1/3 to 1/2. Obviously, eBay store pricing is high, so if you have interest in something just drop me a line.

I'm also going to try posting lists for each year on my web site and here as I get done with the scanning for each set.

RJ,

Actually, they do come with an LOA -- ours. We'll issue a business card LOA for each autograph, and if requested, a full-page LOA on our letterhead with the entire collection story. The buyer just has to cover the extra cost of the larger mailer, unless they don't mind it folded.
I wish we could have dome something with Mr. Thomas, but this is an estate purchase.

wow nice collection, I'd be interested in Lindbergh if there is one and if you have time I'd love a list of some Flyers cards

Where Did All Your Ebay Listings Go, Was Looking At Some Last Night But Can't Find Them Today

When I got to work this morning all of my auctions had been pulled. The notice I received was for being below an eBay standard, but it didn't give any further information. I don't know what it could be, as I have 99.8% feedback and one neg in the last 12 months. I had a stretch where I was slow shipping out stuff because of a combination of opening a new store and going down a vehicle, but everyone received their cards and no negatives were filed. Of course, you can't call eBay and the live chat guy would only tell me to email the Trust Department.

In the meantime, until I get this straightened out, drop me a line and let me know if there's a specific card or player that interests you and I'll let you know what I have.

By the way, folks -- found an autographed Gretzky RC this afternoon.

Thanks!
