I bought a box of Historic Autographs Limelight a few weeks back as part of an online break and actually didn't do too bad, so I decided to pick up another one this week to open at home to scratch my box breaking an itch.

Now, from what I've seen, the cut autos in this product are pretty "DEEP CUTS", so it's no surprise to pull an auto you need to wiki to learn about.

that being said, this was the first auto in the box:

Francis Lederer. Yeah, who?

Now here is the second card in the box.

Beckett Authenticated "Cut Auto" of Lou Costello - of "Abbott and Costello"!!

Only.....

THAT'S NOT LOU COSTELLO'S AUTOGRAPH!!!!!

This is his signature:

It appears to be a early autograph of actor Glenn Ford....

It took me 10 minutes MAX to figure this out, but BECKETT AUTHENTICATED THIS AS LOU COSTELLO!!!

I don't even know who to contact first. I'm going to contact Historic Autographs later today, interested to see what can be said..

Jeff

Thanks for showing these interesting autographs. It took me going to the wiki to figure out the Franz Lederer auto. ;)

Good on you for the investigative work on the Glenn Ford auto, that is totally unacceptable on the the part of Beckett Authenticated. IMHO as well.

Thanks!

I've been in contact with Historic Autographs and they are very interested in this. They've asked me for scans, and I've sent them links to these, so they can, and I quote their email - "so I can figure this out". I've done a fair amount of buying of their products in the past, and this just validates my trust in them that they're looking into this and responding quickly.

Personally speaking, I think I'd be happy with either auto, just would like the right one in the right case.

I started typing out a slightly pointed message to BAS regarding this, but feel it better to go through Historic Autographs and let them ask the questions.

So to update events -

Heard back again from Historic Autographs, they asked me to send them back the slabbed card. He went on to say that when Beckett reopens, they will have them correctly re-slab the cut, and mentioned sending me an extra item for the trouble.

Again, this just proves my faith in Historic Autographs. Not every company is so quickly involved in a situation like this.
