Hi all,

I am new to collecting and I have discoverd a new passion for hockey cards. I have tried a couple of hobby shops in my area, and have also bought a few boxes from Dave and Adams online. Has anyone bought from DA's before? I have been buying from them more often now as I am weary of the hobby shops I have gone to b/c I never seem to have any good pulls. Also the hobby shops always seem to be priced $20-$30 mored that DA's. I prefer to support local business, but not when I feel like the boxes I buy are left over from the cracked cases where the good cards have been collected. Can anyone suggest other online retailers that they have had luck with. Do I need to just break down and order full cases to ensure I get the hits?

There are many reputable hobby shops and there are quite a few owners here on HI.. I perfer to support my shop and get some stuff on-line. I find that by the time I pay shipping and everything else it works out the same. Work with your hobby shop owner ask when they expect stuff in and ask to get a box out of a fresh case or pick your box off the shelf. JMO

I've used Blowoutcards.com several times. Shipping is free over $100 (or is it 150?). Sent UPS 4 day delivery (probably 2 or 3 days to you since you're closer to their Virgina location. Prices seem to be lowest across the board. I doubt they do any searching as they only sell boxes/cases and don't have an actual retail shop. From my experience their CS is also good. I've pulled some really nice stuff from their boxes.
 
I have looked at blowout cards alot and they have nice prices, and the shipping is for orders over 150 $ so thats also a plus. ONLY MINUS for me is they dont ship to CANADA. so that sucks, I would like to find an online store that does ship to Canada that has good prices and decent shipping costs, usually by the time the item gets here i might as well just went to my local shop, the cost is the same, and the shops in Ottawa a very respectable to deal with as well.
 
I believe someone here opened an online store in Canada recently. I looked at the prices and they were fairly modest.

I took a look, thanks. A little rich for my blood, local shop would beat most of those prices especially when you factor in the shipping, and I hope they are canadian pricing.

Great selection of hockey, and they carry both UD and ITG products.

I've bought from them for the past 12 years, and I lived overseas for 8 of those years. For orders outside the US, their shipping rates are at cost.

I like DA, just have to read their descriptions, they sell a lot of retail boxes. Stick with the Hobby boxes. Also, I doubt you are getting shorted on your boxes at the local shop. If they are sealed they are all the same.
 
Canadians may also want to take a look at Hobbyquest2000, they seem to have good prices and the shipping isn't that bad. rmwiz appears to have shut down and queencollectibles seems to have stock in ebbs and flows.
