I plan to rip a couple of cases this week as usual. Love my refractors, I mean rainbows... LOL

Also, I was looking at the checklist on Cardboard Connections and was disappointed to see this:

*Elvis Merzlikins, Max Jones, Noah Dobson, Nick Suzuki, Quinn Hughes, Victor Olofsson not in Orange Checkers/Emerald Surge/Golden Treasures; Dominik Kubalik, Oliver Wahlstrom not in Golden Treasures parallel.*

Perhaps some of the better hits in the product.... Not sure what the deal is here.

That seems odd, and definitely disappointing. What's their source? Usually they are excluded from the entire product not just a single parallel

How long have you been in the game pal? You know they held them back for "redemption replacements". Haha

That is odd though? Maybe they were damaged during production or packout?

I just got done ripping a case and may have answered my own question and raised another. I pulled redemptions for the Base Auto RC's of Quinn Hughes and Olafsson.

This bothers me even more. If the Cardboard Connections checklist is correct, when why is it OK to include the base redemptions of these guys and not include the rarer parallels?

Because it's gonna make that 20/21 checklist better.

Honestly though, that's not great stuff from UD and it's a bit annoying when they do things like this. Imagine you're a casual collector in Buffalo or Vancouver that doesn't check sites like this or checklist sites and you're trying to hit big Hughes or Olofsson's. UD never is transparent when these cards are held back from the checklist.

That is a huge blow to the product. Aside from Makar and Jack Hughes, those are the remainder of the top 7 rookies this season, plus a couple solid prospects in Wahlstrom and Dobson

Man, that's a tough hit on those sweet parallels.

No idea the reasoning on that one. Strange. Maybe they were part of a damaged batch and they couldn't go back and print more due to what is going on.

Response from UD on Twitter:

"We don't like issuing redemptions for low numbered, hard-signed cards as they don't always make it back. If we do get them, we will insert them in next year's release as past project cards. This is a strategy we've used to reduce redemptions the last few years."

For a year with a weak rookie class and with economic conditions, this is a bad plan.
