Hello everyone,

I just finished cracking a case of 2008-09 OPC Update and it was a pretty solid case. I pulled a Crosby Retro/100. I also pulled an interesting card. I pulled a Gretzky Retro #18. What is the deal with this card? I know that Crosby is card #18 in the regular set and retro set and this card pictures Gretzky in a Kings jersey.

I did not pull a blank back card and my autograph was nothing to write home about, or to post on this post about. 19 Retro Rainbows, 12 Golds, a slew of Metal and about 60 Metal X cards. Fun break for the value now.

Any help on the Gretzky card would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Shawn

The Gretzky is one of 4 that is #18.Gretzky is in a Oilers,Kings,Rangers, and Team Canada jersey.Only 1 per case.

24george - Thank you for the info, I love how it seems like UD has forgot the St. Louis stop happened.

winniescards - PM has been returned and I will hopefully know more tonight.

godevils26 - I am pretty sure I hit a Clemmensen base, I am not 100% sure on the Leblond, I will check tonight and let you know a price on the lot minus the HI discount of 20%.

wildfan1833 - It was a Buffalo player, #75 on the jersey, I do not even remember the name. I just remember seeing the jersey number and thinking that was a high number for jersey.

Just a quick question. I bought a Stralman OPC Metal and a Stralman OPC Metal X off ebay. To me they look exactly the same to me.

So could you tell me the difference between a Metal and a Metal X card?

Thanks

Here are all the 4 versions, Base, Gold on top and bottom Metal, Metal X:
( Metal X shines like refractor, clear difference when cards in hand)

Metal card has a flat finish to it, while the Metal X card has a refractor like look to. The Metal X cards usually have a print variation to them resulting in "Mountains" on the card background.

Don't blame Upper Deck for this one - I'm pretty sure that's by Wayne's orders all the way through.

Cory

Cory,

Never thought of it like that. I think Blues stuff might actually do well just because you do not see them that often. Related note, I remember pulling a 1995-96 Parkhurst Series Two emerald Ice Wayne Gretzky cards and trading it for close to $150.00 in Avs inserts when it first came out.
