So I won a $20 card from this guy 3 days ago. Havent paid yet, just kind of slipped my mind. I get a message from him today that says

I was just wondering when you were going to pay for this card. I have a 3day payment window and you have already passed it. I don't want to have to leave negative feedback stating you as a non paying bidder. Thanks Adam

Wow. I have 614 feedback. And this guy is threatening after 3 days? He cant even leave negative feedback. Makes me want to not pay, just to not pay. All he had to do was say "hey, just wondering when you were going to send funds for this? I could use em." and it would have been done. Or I would have paid soon, I always do.

What do you guys think?
 
people say alot from behind a computor monitor they wouldn't say to your face.

Is it stated in his auction that he has a 3 day payment window? If so, then he has a right to ask for payment. I do not really see how he was rude in any way. He simply asked for payment and even said he DOES NOT want to file a NPB on you. Please don't take offense to this but I think you're overreacting a little bit. I'd just pay for the card and not make a big deal about it
 
Actually, it doesn't matter what he says in his auction - eBay TOS allow a 5 or 7 day window of payment.

Hey, if people are going to play the "I don't care what your disclaimer says, TOS say this" for shipping and chargebacks, then it's fair game for the buyers who don't feel like paying within seconds of auction close.

Don't get me wrong Steve, I'm not backing the seller's decision to ask for payment a mere 3 days after the end of the auction. However, I don't think he was rude or threatening at all. If the OP was planning on paying and the only reason he hadn't was because it had slipped his mind, I don't see what refusing to pay would accomplish

No offense taken. I guess i read the "i don't want to have to give you a neg" as an idle threat.
 
If someone doesn't pay for a few days, I tend to just send them an invoice (sometimes for the 2nd time). After the 7 days, I'll send them an email, asking them to at least reply in the next couple days, after that, I'll just give them bad feedback.
 
i didn't find the seller's comments rude at all. i find it is best not to interpret tone when i'm reading something online.

That's a definite problem with online communication: you don't get the tone of the person talking to you.

I also personally think you're overreacting a bit. I don't think he intended to be rude. Just pay for the thing and move on.
 
If anything irks me with payment these days, it's the reminders eBay is sending on behalf of sellers. THAT pisses me off.
 
I ask for payment in 5 days and if someone doesn't pay within that time I open an item not paid REMINDER. It is clearly stated in my TOS and if ebay changed to 5 days why shouldn't I?

I just did that recently with a buyer and he messages me back "I like to take 7 days to pay for my auctions so you will be paid in another two days". Really?!? You have time to write that to me and most likely read my auction that stated 5 days but you can't pay on time? Thanks buddy....pffft.
 
There are a lot of wankers on Ebay lately.

My 100% feedback was recently "Held Hostage" by someone who wanted a refund (for no other reason than he payed too much for the card, and which I granted with no problem) and 2.50 for him to ship the card back to me. As much as I wanted to say "shag the feedback", I politely gave him his 2.50.

You have to look at the big picture I guess, but this rule about not being able to give buyers neg feedback is really putting small scale sellers at risk.

Thats a good point, that has come up alot in online communication discussions. Typing in caps accidentally and/ or mis speaking your point online. I thought it did sound a littl overbearaing, I always ask politely first as I've had stuff not get sent out for other reasons including forgetting.

Quincy - Everyone is sick of those auto-notices. It makes it look like the seller is sitting at home hammering on the "PAY ME" button.
