I was pretty bummed out to hear that OT Sports is shutting down due to the crazy rent in the Vancouver area.
I will certainly miss the place. It served not just as a place to get wax and singles, but, to me, it felt like a bit of a hub for collectors, serious and casual.
What I loved about OT sports was the availability of base. I'm a bit old school and grew up collecting and building base sets (way before memorabilia cards :whatthehell
.
So there are times that I just like to build base sets. I just find it relaxing and enjoyable. It's probably cheaper to just buy the sets in terms of the time I spend putting them together, even multiple sets. Derek would always look at me weird at how I would get so excited about talking about base...lol. He would tell me, "one man's trash, is another's gold". (I did receive a ton of base in a recycling bag before...lol).
It was awesome because there were different sports and non-sports base too. It was nice to have a place where ball sorts of base could be found in one place.
I'm going to miss OT Sports, thanks for the years that you were around as it filled a void for a lot of local collectors.
Selfishly, I don't know how I'm going to get my base fix now?!?!?!
