I realize that all the talk is about the 4 day Expo event. And I agree there is no show quite like it.
Specially of hockey is what your cup of tea is. Mind you they even have a good amount of other
sports and non sport mixed in.And I am sure with the insurgents of basketball, soccer,
and Pokemon that there will a lot more of that then ever before.

But my question is for those that oped out of the Expo for what ever reason. But plan on attending
the show in Ottawa. How well do you think it will be attended.I would assume any big time dealers
will be at the Expo. But this show sound like a good event.Any insight would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

I haven't been in a while, but if the waiting list for tables is any indication, it should at least be a pretty decent show. Last time I inquired, the waiting list was at 50+

So I'd assume there is a decent variety available

Yes some of the regular Ottawa dealers are at the Toronto Show this weekend. As previously mentioned there is also a very large waiting list of locals who grab up the vacant tables which makes Expo weekend shows in Ottawa very interesting. It also tends to offer more variety of affordable collectibles that are no longer present at the Expo. There used to be some very unique dealers at the Expo, but the last one that I attended featured dealer after dealer with what appeared to be exactly the same high end cards as the guy next to them. Accordingly, there are also many locals who have concluded that the trip to Toronto is no longer worth their time or the increased expense, as next month those same Ottawa dealers will be back with the high end cards that they might be looking for.

I was talking with a friend he went to the show and he was very impressed with how much activity there was.

See the post by 99Goals regarding his Expo Experience this past weekend. It is spot on regarding what the Expo has become. For people with the available funds who like to invest in the high end cards it is still the premier event in Canada. I believe that the Ottawa show fills the now missing piece or collecting niche that he refers to.

I did read his post and yes the collecting world has become a place for investments.
I sometimes wonder how many true collectors are left in this hobby. I find it seems to be
all about buying and flipping for a profit. The small shows like what we have here in Halifax
still has a few collectors. But 90% or more are there only to buy and resell.Thanks.
