Ovechkin Sits In On Rangers' Practice; Gets Asked To Leave

I would think that it would just be a common courtesy to not be there for the other team's practice. It's just a distraction that isn't needed. I love Ovie and his antics and don't have a huge problem with this but it just makes me wonder why? I don't htink that he needs to "get into the heads" of the Rangers, he's the best forward in the game.

Look at it this way, It got the NHL on Sportscenter. That matters, seriously. If they dont want to be on sportscenter because of cool things liek pregae fights, God I miss the 80's and guys liek Ed Hospadar, then get on there somehow. Having a straight laced game whas already proven nto to work, so do something, or the game as a whoel is in trouble.

The Rangers were right in asking him to leave.

Ovechkin is such a great player. I just wish he would stop with all the antics. He's starting to look like a real clown and sooner or later people are going to start turning against him for it.

I personally don't care for him due to his antics and this quote just reinforces my feelings.

That wasn't the story from Ovechkin himself, though, who joked that he sat in on Rangers practice to "tick off" head coach John Tortorella.

That's what I love about Ovechkin, he's a character and he's having fun with it. While everyone is so wired and stressed out about every little thing, he is goofing around and hamming it up. He is the real face of the NHL, the league needs more guys like him.

Honestly? Sounds like this was handled quite reasonably. Tortorella's ALSO an attention whore - loves the spotlight, he does - so his reaction doesn't surprise me either.

Ovechkin was sitting in to learn about the Rangers. The Rangers - rightly - complained and asked him to leave. He did. What's the problem?

If I had a Nickel for everytime you said this, I'd own the Washington Capitals. We get it, you want him as the face! If the NHL did then he would be, but obviously in your opinion they don't want that. They may have a good reason too.

I'm pretty sure there's little more he could do to define himself as the premier toolbag in the NHL, so calm down.

He's going to play for them at some point in his career. He's just getting used to his next bench.

he'l be 35 when his contracts up. with the way he plays he'l probably have two bad knees, constant groin problems, and a bum shoulder...and i would bet any amount of money he'l end up with a 4-5 year contract with the rangers...unless sather is gone by then lol

so what would you all think of Avery sitting in for the Caps practice next?

Honestly, I would care about that as much as I do about this. Quincy, with an overwhelming post of reason, summed it up nicely.

I didn't realize the Caps could be purchased for 20 cents. He's the best player in the NHL, he's the most charasmatic player in the NHL, he is always smiling and having fun, so yeah in my opinion he should be the face of the NHL. It's better then some other player who constantly has a scorned look on his face who gets hammered by the media day in and day out no matter how good or bad he does. No offense because I think Crosby is getting a raw deal by the media most of the time, but he isn't even the best player on his team.

6,000,000,000 % agreed.

Thank you. Post of the decade.

For all you guys, Crosby isn't in the media half as much as #8 so I'm not sure where you get that from? And when he is, it's not about stupidity, its about the game! Unlike your idol, who loves the attention surrounding his childish antics. He is on his way to dethroning Avery, you can even see the respect he is getting from his peers and even from his fans. (a few on these boards have even started to realize).

You know who else was always "smiling and having fun" and in the media alot loving it,......Dennis Rodman and now he's on some stupid reality show once again trying to be in the spotlight.

Another thing, why are you guys so stuck on one guy being the face?? Can't we have a bunch of faces? Or is that not good with you guys?
