Sid.

I look at it like this:

Sakic or Bure?

Ovy...deeper team this year and Green will be a great quarterback for him....lots of breakaway goals!

I pick OV . I can't stand crosby and his diving. Once he matures I'll take the canadian boy.

You didn't see the dives Ovechkin took in the playoffs? Not saying Crosby does but let's call them both out if we are going to call anyone out.

I'm not picking because this has been done far too many times, and in the end it always ends up in fighting due to accusations of diving and name calling the kid and then sid's fans stepping in and taking exception.

It's a train wreck waiting too happen.

Generational Scoring talent versus Generational Playmaking Talent. It's next to impossible too choose. What context are we choosing under? Are we picking who we like better or who we'd rather have on our team? If the latter, who do I already have on my name? If I have effecient set up guys I want Ovechkin, if I have good scorers I'll want a playmaker.

Instead of making over done, generic "who's better" polls, add a scenario in so people can explain their decisions better than "he's a baby" or "he's a Russian so his work ethic may not hold up". It could also make for more inteligent conversations and less player bashing.

Thus far, I think Ovy has been the better player by a little bit. He carried his team into the playoffs, and has been an absolute beast. Crosby has also been awesome, but at this point there is noone better than AO

That's a good way of looking at it. I think OV has a darn good physical game to go along with the scoring touch. Wasn't he third in the league in hits? Like them or hate them they are both superstars!

I chose Crosby. Why?

Crosby is the more well-rounded of the two. He's a smarter player, a better passer and, while not a night and day difference, makes a bigger impact defensively. On the offensive side of things, Ovechkin might score 65 times, but Sid will hit 40-45 and certainly make more plays that won't be read on the stat sheet.

Ovechkin is a wonderfully talented and exciting young player but Sid will win a Cup first and I would say that regardless of the supporting casts.

It's close, but Sid by a nose.

Crosby took his team to the finals last year - don't take that away from him.

I'll take Sid for the sheer marketing value - he's a Canadian kid and his stuff sells, he's the face of the game today and if he's wearing my uni, all that much better.
They're a coinflip on the ice but I'll take Crosby for everything else.
