P.S.A.: Pre-order for 23-24 UD Series 2 up for pre-order

lol, its a lead gen form and no price. Not unexpected of course.

Yeah, it was there yesterday... it was $159.99/ box whereas series 1 was $149.99/ box.

It just boggles my mind how crazy the hype is going to be for Bedard, and in a year where UD decided to change the mix of it's a flagship brand...

makes me ever so thankful for epack. I will buy my cases there.

I'm thinking of skipping UD2. I'm not a massive breaker, my chances of pulling a Bedard out of 1-2 boxes are slim. My PC would be happier with a graded Roy rookie for a similar price.

Pre-order for S2 is up on Dave and Adam's.

$200 (USD) for a box and $2,350 for a case. That's 53-54% higher than the cost of S1. There must be something good coming in S2.

Way less cards in a box and way higher price. The gouging is real. I don’t rip wax and haven’t in years, I was going to try a hobby box just for the sake of chasing Bedard but I’m not giving anybody in the chain the satisfaction of paying these prices.

Yes, there's less base, but there will be 3 insert cards (including the YG's) per pack, so 36 per box, vs the recent 22-24 inserts per box. Still 6 YG's per box.

But yeah, $200 USD per box? That's crazy.

Bedard effect. We saw it Crosby year. We saw it McDavid year.

My LCS has a nice take on it:
"If I've never seen you before 2023 and you're looking to preorder a case of S2, you're also buying a case of S1."

That’s fine, and it’s something, but let’s be real most of the inserts will be thrown into the pile with the base. And they’re going to print so much of this stuff I don’t expect many of them to be all that rare.

The optics just look bad to the average person who will roll up to buy a hobby box and find out they’re only getting half the packs at a way higher price. UD has their reasons for changing the format and I’m sure cutting costs had to be a big one, but as collectors we are not privy to their finances to know exactly how crucial this sort of change was to the bottom line and frankly it’s not our problem. If costs need to be cut that much and so much volume has to be taken out of the boxes then at least throw the masses a bone with a somewhat better price. That hasn’t occurred, quite the opposite especially as product moves along the chain and gets marked up even more, and I don’t think a few extra inserts will be enough.

The informed collectors who have known about this change for a while now and have had lots of time to wrap their heads around it have probably already decided what their limits are and whether they’re going to partake. The average person walking into an LCS or going online to buy a box at release is going to have a stroke when they find out the price is bonkers and the number of packs is cut in half. If they’re going in just to chase Bedard they’re not going to care about a few more inserts in the box. Again the optics are just very poor. It’s simply a lot less volume for a whole lot more money. With inflation we’ve been dealing with enough of that in our day to day lives and almost everything else we buy. Things we actually need to live like food and clothing, nevermind a hobby.

I also don't see retail boxes available to pre-order for S1 or S2, only hobby, blasters and tins.

In the past retail was good way to get 6 YG's for a much lower price. I remember pre-ordering retail 15/16 S1 boxes for $70 each.

They are not producing retail boxes this year is what I was told

There are no retail boxes going forward according to the distributors.
As for price increase, yes about $10.00 more than series 1.
Shop around is all I can say. They are saying that series 2 is pre-allocated, which gives people free will with their asking prices.
Our regulars that buy series 1 will get 1st dibs on series 2 and then we will see what we have left.
Remember shop around!!!!
Thx Dan

I will add that you don't have to deal with the price wars on ePack. Yes you will need to wait about 2 months post physical release but the pack price stays static and does NOT change.

Agreed to shop around but this is a lesson in patience..
