Panini and UD use the same pics?

I was just wondering about this. I didn't think they would be able to use the same pics? It just kind of seems weird but I am sure someone can explain it to me.

I figured that UD would use the same photo's in other products but thought it wouldn't be allowed for another company to use the same photo. I kind of just figured that one company would own the rights to the photo if that is possible.

Cool. thanks for the quick info guys. It would be cool to be a photographer her gets their pics on a card, especially if it ended up being a great shot or a important rookie card.

If each company had their own staff photographers - then you could see that, but if they're using Getty, Getty owns the rights to the photo and will pretty much license it to anyone if they get paid for it from a rights holder

Getty does supply the majority of photos to both. I think they have freelancers in some cities as well.
