Panini Expo Redemptions

In a year I thought companies would try a little harder it looks like Panini is not trying at all. I am not even sure they are going to be there.

Expo redemption program:

With the 2013 Toronto Spring Expo set to take place this weekend at the Toronto International Centre, Panini America will be offering collectors the chance at a unique Team Colors set with the purchase of a box. Thru an exclusive partnership with Universal Distributors in Canada, collectors that bring an unopened box of 2012-13 Certified Hockey, 2012-13 Classics Signatures Hockey or 2012-13 Limited Hockey will receive one of the complete sets.

The 10-card Team Colors set features key names such as Taylor Hall, P.K. Subban and Jonathan Quick.


Panini has also created two unique Patrick Roy cards to honor the Hall of Famer and his appearance at the show. Collectors that visit their local hobby shop and bring the passport coupon to the Universal booth with get their choice of one of the cards (while supplies last). One card features Roy in his Canadiens uniform while the other pays tribute to his time with the Avalanche.

The wait with anticipation has resulted in a dud.
I don't see myself opening any Panini products at the Expo.

I had planned on busting some more boxes of 12-13 Classics Signatures but the lack of an interesting redemption program has ended that idea.

I've only done 2 Panini redemptions at the Toronto shows, wasn't impressed by either one, never seems like a lot of effort is put into it. In The Game does a great show, and UD's Priority Signings are always a hit (despite the wait times).

So let me get this straight. I spend $xxx on a Panini Product and I get a 10 Card Insert Set that looks like it's from Score? No Chance at an Auto or Mem Card? Hmm Interesting

That seals it for me. I'll be spending all my money on ITG product. The fact that UD and Panini didn't even have a release prepared for Spring Expo is ridiculous

What, no chance of pulling a football or basketball card as a redemption either? Curious to see what they come with at the fall with the major rookie crop? Until then, sorry guys but I agree money well saved here

In their defense, the Fall Expo has been the one to be at for both UD and Panini. UD has skipped the Spring Expo in the past. I would assume this to be a budgetary issue more than it is anything else. Knowing Karvin, I'm sure he would have wanted Panini's presence at the Expo (as would dealers and collectors).

Oh well though, more money coming ITG's way (not that that would have been a problem anyway).

Panini is a joke.

All of you that visit In The Game Land will have a great time. Wish I could take another road trip for this one.

Panini dropped the ball on this one. The UD priority signings are nice and its cool that they extended the redemption program to 4 of their products but, I think ITG is going to steal the show this time around.

We'll be in booth #603 with plenty of wax!

Can I just get some clarification here, I understand the (sad) redemption program, but Panini will NOT be there at all? Its going to be run through Universal?

That is my impression... Universal will be doing the work and Panini will be absent.
