after waiting 14 months on a redemption and with several unanswered emails I finally was told by panini today that they dont have my card and would be sending a replacement of equal or greater value. What do you think of the replacement. I was suppose to receive this :
2010 Panini Dominion
Signatures Ruby /50

Instead I am getting this:

2011 Panini Crown Royale
All the Kings Men Memorabilia Signature /100

my first reaction is im not overly impressed with the replacement, i think mainly because I waited all this time to get a card I already own. what do you think?

You lose out on print run but gain memorabilia. Sounds fair to me.

crowne royal for dominion??? all things said the value of these cards may be similar how ever i purchased this redemption off ebay to get a particular card....14 months of dicking around and panini cant get me the card terrible redemption program.....should be doing more to make up for there goof......give me a list of 10 cards of similar value I would rather get a $2 base card that i need then a $20 double that i have no use for what so ever

I think the cards are a decent trade off just like Jeremy said.

Dont blame Panini(or UD) when the Player(s) dont sign and return cards. These companies can only do so much before they need to clear out the old redemptions and get rid of old stock in the warehouse

Well then that'll learn ya for buying a redemption card. :|

And nucks4cup makes a good point about the fulfillment of the redemption card. It isn't always the company's fault.

And I wonder what your thread would have sounded like if they did send you the $2 base card you would rather have. I can't imagine it would be any less ranty.

you asked ...you got an answer . I guess it wasnt the answer you wanted.

i rebutted an answer, good way to have a dialogue, I asked for opinions and am open to them. I would gladly take a bobby ryan base card instead if it would have been one of MY options and not theirs. some of the exact replies I have gotten are:

"The card was lost in the mail and I was told that there are no plans to re-print the card. I just learned of this yesterday. Unfortunately I am still learning of everything that needs to be fixed. I haven’t figured everything out in the 6 months that I have been here"

doesnt sound like the players fault to me.

"If you look at Bobby Ryan’s cards, none of them sell very well. As a matter of fact, his cards that are non-jersey/patch autos that come from higher end products sell in the $1-$4 range. I have attached the clippings from Beckett’s website."

wow thanks for cutting up the player I chose to collect, sorry he wasnt hi end enough for you but he means something to me.

"I apologize for the lack of response on our end towards your request ticket. At the time we do not have that Bobby Ryan Dominion Signatures Ruby /50. I can offer you a replacement for this card if that interests you. The replacement would have the same value or greater if that is what you chose to do. If not you can continue to wait."

this email was from today, yet they learned yesterday that the cards were lost in the mail???

I have since come to an agreement with panini that doesnt fully satisfy me, their customer, but is at least better then what I got. after 14 months i did not think the responses I was getting were satisfactory. Obviously you guys disagree and that is fine, the majority of people on SCF agree with me, but I did ask for opinions and am glad to hear them.

I also would not be happy with the replacement. To me the key is a hard-signed card versus a sticker card. That alone would be a deal breaker. Add in the higher print run of the replacement card, memorabilia piece or not, I would not be satisfied with it.

Tell you what though. I have a Bobby Ryan 09-10 Ultimate Collection (hard signed) that you can have for free if so desired. My one and only offer to a Ducks fan from KING'S Country. Maybe take a little sting out of the replacement for you, and help my friends Rodney, Karvin and Chris! LMK.

With all the information on this and other boards these days regarding redemptions, buying them has become a crap shoot. You should have known full well going in that there was at least a decent chance it wouldn't be fulfilled. The CSR you spoke to who said Ryan's cards sell for $1-$4 is 100% correct and yet you are mad that they are "crapping on the player you collect"? They are simply stating FACTS. The card you are about to receive likely sells for the same price as the one you redeemed and it is of the player you actually collect. In my opinion, it's not that bad of a replacement. It certainly doesn't deserve the major rant.

Those are my 2 cents

thanks i have a couple ryan cards so i know what they typically sell for, i do not need to be told so be panini......does it make it ok that they couldn't fulfill my redemption because he is not a star? and sure I should have looked more at the info available about redemptions, but 14 months ago panini was still relatively new in the game and my hope was they would be better then upper deck, now i know, again i was just looking to see what other people thought about how i was treated and the card I got, was really looking for opinions on my personal feelings on the matter.

This is the big problem with hard signed cards, there's always a possibility that they will be lost by the player. But at the same time, there are plenty of opportunities for the card companies to have these cards signed in their presence as opposed to having them shipped to the player to be signed and then shipped back to them.

The companies need to have a better way of handling redemptions, either that or if you want to have hard signed cards, the product shouldn't go out until all the autos have been received so they can go out live in the packs.

I honestly wouldn't mind waiting an extra month or 2 for something like SPA to be released if it meant all the autos were live in pack

Hey i feel for you, but why do people buy redemptions. :|:|
THe live card if it shows up is usually lower b/c the demand is gone. IF they dont make it the value is lower as its 14 months out.

take it as a lesson learned. Dont buy redemptions unless you are prepared for what happened to you.

again i have said my fault it was one of my first redemptions...i come on this site to buy and trade I should have read more into redemptions......I actually spent a night with bobby ryan and my son in his private box and he signed at least 30 autos so it shouldnt be a time issue..........as for time constraints if panini would have said sorry we are gonna need another 10 years but we guarantee you this particular card i would have been happy because iwanted that particular card.....this is the first time a redemption has gone wrong for me so sorry for the rant but i am sure all of you felt the same way the first time it happened to you

Do you have a list of Bobby Ryan basecards you need? Because I'll send you one or two for the auto/memorabilia if you really, truly would prefer a base you need.
