Patch Detectives! Real or Fake?

I was browsing through Nicklas Backstrom and saw this..

Just wondering if this was a real or fake patch. I have no clue where it could be from on the Capitals jersey.

Godd question, none of the normal emblems or the Asg has this black/blue/black with white so close..

Unfortunately, if it is fake, he'll probably get away with it since the patch is pretty non-specific.

EDIT: Look at the guy's feedback. I wouldn't touch it.

I don't think he got anything to do with it, I've got/bought/sold cards myself I know can't be for real, for example an orange TML patch which was "gu in an official NHL game". It's probably from somewhere it's hard to see or it's a mistake from UD.

I found where its from. I'll let you guys debate on the real or fake issue

I compared to my Ovechkin jersey and is all the same materials and size. But I'm sure Backstrom never wore one of those jerseys

lol I was looking at that possibility. It looks like it's bronze around the black..

He probably wore a photoshoot one as I believe they still had those jerseys when he was drafted.

On the actual jersey its white around the black. I wish i had a camera to take a photo of my jersey for actual comparisons. The pic i used was from a logo database.

LOL that explains a lot... ok then it's for real, so are there more jerseys have wrong outerlines on that site?

I see, but why would they put bronze on the logosite? nonsense, they're supposed to show how the logos really look?:/

this logo shouldn't be caps logo, right is right?

Maybe to make it stand out. I'm honestly not sure. That is why when i check a patch with the logo i then try to locate a jersey to compare with afterwards. I was just lucky i have an Ovechkin jersey I was able to look at.

It`s pretty crappy that you have to do homework in order to make sure that cards nowdays are legit and havent been tampered with.
